I am wanting to install a winch on my JTM OE plastic bumper. Looking at this mount. Anyone have some knowledge of this setup?

Looks like it is just sitting on top of the plastic bumper, slid underneath the tow hooks…

It is sitting pretty high
There’s been posts here showing the Mopar winch plate in the plastic bumper with the plastic cut out for the winch to sit inside like normal.

I don't have an experience with a JL/JT on this one - but I have seen more than one on a JK that installs the same way. Holds up fine - just rather unsightly.

Damn that's ugly. Why do I want 2 sets of tow hooks right next to each other? My entire bumper was only $100 more than that, looks infinitely better, mounts the winch lower, is way stronger than the plastic garbage, has better approach angle, and proper d-ring mounts that are far safer than the open hook style recovery points.

Says that it’s made in the USA, maybe it was designed in China.

@Glad Jeeper you probably don’t want to block you engine cooling that much, and if you want to winch yourself out of a mud hole you’ll probably want some amount of upward pull to help break suction ( meaning a lower mount is better ). What you’ve shared above, looks like an idea that was derived by some drunk hoosier ( and Im not trying to offend any real Hoosiers out there ). If something breaks, and a shackle goes flying, this design looks like it would result in more deaths to the driver/operator, this thing is worse than bad.

when something seems too good to be true ( simplification in this case )
, then it usually is.

I have the RH and it's fine. I've had no issues with it blocking the grill. So far everything I've winched has worked like it should. It was easy to install and easy to remove everything if I decide to move to a different vehicle one day.

The JL/JT version of the Rock Hard mount definitely looks worse than the JK version looks like. I ran the JK version on my JK for a few years and it was fine. No cooling issues and plenty strong. The easy bolt on aspect made it easy to remove (and resell) when I upgraded the bumper.

The JL/JT version looks like an after thought. Fit and finish looks a lot to be desired.
