Here in south eastern Oklahoma we have about 3" since 8am this morning and it isn't supposed to stop until after midnight tonight. That is nothing to most of ya'll but we don't usually get much snow here. Right now it isn't packed and is fairly easy to get around on but I've heard reports of several wrecks and people off in ditches trying to get to a larger town about 20 miles away.

Edit 1/10: By this morning we had a little over 12" and our small town ended up shut down for 2 days.

Good afternoon,

Over the past several hours, models have converged on the idea of a low lifting northeastward from the Gulf of Mexico Friday night to well off the Mid Atlantic Coast Saturday. I think 1 to 2" of snow is likely, and it'll be done Saturday morning. Kinda lame for a Gulf of Mexico low. Oh well.

Precip totals with this storm are light. Converting it over to snow has the low end being less than an inch and a high end of 4". So if you wanted a very high confidence forecast, I'd say a Trace to 4" of snow. Money in the bank!

Snow should be very light and fluffy. I'm thinking of using the leaf blower (it's battery powered, so I won't bother my neighbors too much. Plus, I promise not to use it between Midnight and 5 am).. The snowblower stays in the shed, tho I kept the gas and oil in it for now.

Upper air jet-stream pattern is cold for the foreseeable future, tho the models show a couple of incursions of warmer air. This gets me back to my cynicast of "Windy and cold, windy and cold, windy and cold, Rain." But the GFS Dreamcast does have snow showers Monday and another winter storm for next weekend.
