My sales guy said this had to do with traction control but I’m still curious as to what this module is on the back of my front axle. My JK did not have it.

It's the FAD (front axle disconnect). New for the JL model to help with fuel economy.

What Pokey said :) Your sales guy has no idea what he's talking about!

Note: That is the weak point on your front axle. If you are doing a fair amount of rough offroading, many people add skid plate upgrades and axle trusses to strengthen the axle housing around it.

You can also remove the FAD with aftermarket axle shafts (the inside axle).
