For me all I'm looking for is tire coverage in New Hampshire to cover the tire poke (state law). I have mudflaps to take care of the rest but I see your point.Doesn’t that defeat the purpose, being to reduce flicking up rocks and mud behind you when you’re running tires poking outside of the stock flares? I don’t see the rational for mounting them in reverse as they don’t really serve a functional purpose then, and it looks kinds funny if you ask me.
Yeah, they don’t work well for that purpose…haha.Doesn’t that defeat the purpose, being to reduce flicking up rocks and mud behind you when you’re running tires poking outside of the stock flares? Our Jeeps are almost identicalYeah, they don’t work well for that purpose…haha.
That looks like a dealer-build, and thus a dealer-mistake. Kudos to the dealer for likely lurking in the forums to get build ideas.... but probably should have been paying closer attention to the threads, and/or as well as their installers doing the work...I have seen something today that blew my mind! A new Overland Gladiator ($83k) at a dealership with the Extreme Recon flares mounted to the front of the rear wheel well…and it looked perfect…no relief cuts! The last picture is from their website before they were installed apparently. Thoughts?
Well...to each their own. I actually love it. I did it with mine and it looks amazing. It did exactly what I needed it to do (cover the wheel tread for state inspection) and I didn't need to cut it as the bend works perfectly. I should take a picture of mine...almost reminds me of the Trans Am fender flare from the "old" F body...haha...truthfully though every mod we do to our Jeeps is highly subjective and one man's (or woman's) poison is another man's cure. And just FYI this build is legit. It was made by RMT Overland and is top quality. I figure if the reversed flare is good enough for an $83k Gladiator it's good enough for mine. It looks weird.com.
I’m surprised the inspector called it good that way, I would think they would want it on the rear to cover any debris they could be kicked back.Well...to each their own. I actually love it. Well I started out with rockblox. But they ended up being too small cause I bought the standard ones, which worked great when it was all stock. After the 4.5 lift and 38s not so much. So I bought some textured plastic and built my own and use the rock Blox mounting hardware. I like them much better. I really hated the 2 opposing angles on the flares and mud flaps.@Larry D - looks good! Which mud flaps are you running and most of all... where were you wheeling?
