I went with 4.88s and BFG 37s.Been a great combo for everything. The 5.13s you loose a tooth on the pinion and the DS really has to spin. With 4.88s I can always go back to 35s. I average about 15mpg mixed and can get 17 mpg freeway if things are good.

4.88 and 5.13 both have 8 teeth on the pinion. 4.88 is 39 on the ring and 8 on the pinion; 5.13 is 41 on the ring and 8 on the pinion.

With 5.13 vs 4.88, your driveshaft will spin 5.12% faster.

Absolutely love my regear. Went 5.13s as I run 38+ tires and tow a 4500 lb camper from Florida to TN. With 39s and stock 4.10 gears I had to use 1st gear to get up hills to the cabin in TN not towing and that was just pathetic.

I test drove a 2024 Rubicon X with the Extreme 35" option. 8-speed with 4.88s were perfect. At 40mph the RPMs were around 400 RPM lower than my JKUR10A with 4.10s and NAG1 5-speed.

So If I go to 35s on my 2025 Mojave X it will get 4.88s...

👍
Was this an additional regear? Pretty sure Rubicon X models have 4.56 gears

my mistake... those were the factory 4.56 gears. I corrected my post.

I was most impressed with the acceleration and cruise speed + RPMs. huge improvement from my JK with the NAG1. Now that I pulled the trigger on my 2025 Mojave X I will leave it alone.

👍

I don't think you can get the deeper gear set factory for gladiators or did they finally change that?

I plan on 4.88.
One thing to keep in mind.
As the difference in the diameter of the ring and pinion grows the surface area contact of the teeth reduces. This has nothing to do with tooth count but rather contact surface of the gear.
4.88 seems to be a good compromise of gear mesh, strength and reduction in these axles

I don't believe that is correct. Dana says it's not.

Agreed, in my opinion, any of them that come with 32's should have 4.88's standard.
