Nothing like leaving a few extra bolts in the cowling when a co-worker is replacing a fuel control. Good test to see if he is a good mechanic. Either he double checks his work and looks around to see where the extra hardware came from or dumps the extra hardware in the trash. You get to know who to trust that way.

I lost a few tools over the years. Mostly to other mechanics. We sort of had an unspoken rule, only one tool box at the work site. Sometimes that wasn't possible because the guy you were working with had an incomplete tool set.
Nothing like opening a panel and finding a screw bag full from the last time it was off and they just put new screws on and sent it.

Seen aircraft cycle through years later and opening a fuel cell or other captured access area and find your co-workers tools laying there that they failed to report missing and since had replaced with new ones for their shadow space.

At least it wasn't a fuel indication problem only to find that missing coworker that disappeared over two years prior. He finally became dislodged and sheared off a few fuel probes. Co-workers failed to inspect on close up, he wasn't missed until him no show on his Monday and his wife didn't even report him missing for several days. Everyone thought he just left his job and his wife. Yet he was pickled in fuel for two years. This was in the mid 80's.

...but why the hell is it ALWAYS the 10mm??

I guess that's up there with why hotdogs come in packs of 10 and hotdog buns come in packs of 8...

I've seen this set pop up a couple times. We just had a Harbor Freight open up and I'm trying to behave. 😇

It's not easy to behave. I have bought stuff with the coupons that I really didn't even know what the tools did but they were a really good deal. I may use them someday.

I have gotten to the point when I buy 10 or 13 mm sockets or wrenches I go ahead and just buy two.

They should sell 10mm sockets in bulk boxes like they sell #2 Phillips bits. I'd buy several and stash them in different places.

Well I couldn’t resist any more and picked up the set.
I think I’ll pick up a few more for stocking stuffers for some friends/relatives that wrench on their own vehicles.

Sunday at Costco I spotted a bumper sticker that said "Bigfoot stole my 10mm" and I had to tell my wife about this thread.

Well I just came across the answer to our problems!

Harbor Freight just sent me this listing in their weekly flyer that will finally put our quest to rest. Many choices nd options in one convenient place!

https://www.harborfreight.com/10-mm...e=go&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=cpnlink

it is on sale if you look at their flyer…I’m not affiliated with them in any way yada yada yada.
I actually have that. I had to buy it to replace the thermostat on my 2019 Colorado. It was unnecessarily difficult.
