I love mine, but it’s been in the shop more times than I can count. I would have lemon lawed it if I didnt know what a pain in the ass it was. My 08 JKU Rubicon was a buy back. The only vehicle I’ve ever had issues with are Jeeps. I’m 43 yrs old and I’ve bought a new car a year on average since I graduated college and I’ve had lots of different makes and models.

It’s been mainly major things too. The last trip it had an entire rear end replacement and it’s due for cylinder head replacement to hopefully finally get my rough idle issue.

I Fing love my Gladiator, but I knew going into it, that it was going to always be in the shop. That’s why I leased it.

It’s not bad luck. Jeeps are horribly unreliable. This is my fourth one. It is what it is. I’ve had Chevys, GMC, Mazdas, Nissans, Volvos, Audis, BMWs, Hondas, and a few other brands that I’m probably forgetting. No real issues with any of the other brands other than my 8 speed auto in my GMC had issues before GM finally figured out that they were using the wrong transmission fluid in them and it was fine after that. My BMWs and Audis were all completely trouble free and they are known for issues.

With our last 4 Grand Cherokees, we had 3 issues, all mostly minor and all resolved quickly and efficiently by the dealer.
We had the NAV die and both batteries die in our 2018. Dealer replaced both batteries and replace the radio.
We had a misfire condition on the 2021 - bucked like a bronco in a rodeo. I diagnosed, printed the report and took report and Jeep to dealership. They had it a day and a half and found an obscure TSB relating to misfire issues in 2021 Grand Cherokee - they replaced the spark plugs. Trouble resolved.
We had a headliner issues in one - the front edge was coming loose. I told them to pull it down, use a good 3M adhesive and put the material back up in place and put the headliner back up. Instead they replaced the entire headliner under warranty.
Otherwise, we've had almost no issues with Grand Cherokees - I'd have to go back even more years to find other issues - one way back had a right front door window regulator fail - dealer took care of it under warranty in about a day.
My Silverado had no issues that I can remember anyway.
We consider Jeeps to be really reliable. Perhaps the Wrangler is less so than Grand Cherokee... but my brother has had good luck with his Jeeps (mostly Wrangler, etc.) and loves 'em.

Liquor Attorney. So not all bad...
20K miles and except for the early JTR 2021 axle seal leak on the passenger rear, no problems.

Why do you keep buying them? I’m not trying to be provocative here. Just curious.

I own a lot of Jeeps and have owned many more. Most of them much older and of all varieties. I never bought one for it’s reliability rating. I’ve beat the piss out of many of them on the trail and always gotten home. My experience is as anecdotal as yours though.

In general, if one is looking for a trouble free highway cruiser etc. etc. there are better options for sure. If you want the best “out of the box” off-road performing vehicle ever made…you buy a Rubicon.

I bought a Gladiator Rubicon for that off-road capability combined with the 7k tow rating. You can’t get that anywhere else.

There is 41,000 miles on mine and there have been no issues. Maybe I’m lucky.

I’m not saying Jeep can’t, and shouldn’t work on their reliability but I wouldn’t want it to come at the expense of it’s ruggedness and capability (I’m specifically talking about Wranglers/Gladiators). There are tons of anemic watered down “off-road vehicles” out there that Consumer Reports gushes over. I’ll pass. Let’s hope Jeep never sells it’s soul.

Mine 'feels' like it has a lumpy idle through the steering wheel etc but actually sounds fine outside and the tacho remains still. No lights so atm, no worries.

Just hit 35k on my overland with level kit and 35's since day 1. No issues at all. It's been a blessing this rig takes me everywhere.

Because I like them. I did take a ten year break and swore them off after my JKU Rubicon lemon. The only thing that really bothers me is Jeep service departments. Far and away the worst of any brand I’ve dealt with. Their only saving grace is Jeep Cares. They’re pretty awesome if you call Jeep Cares and have them set it up, but I shouldn’t have to do that.

So, quick question...how many Gladiators are out there that have not had any issues with engine misfiring?

There are a ton of people on here that have the issue, nearly zero that have been able to get it fixed and many that ended up in the buy-back/lemon law process. Hell, there's even one that Lemon Law'd due to misfire...got a new one and is having the same issue.

I had read about it, figured "there's a ton out there that perfectly fine, it's just a vocal couple with the issue" Then my parents purchased a Gladiator....sure enough...engine misfire...same process I read about...and ended up Lemon Law.

With this thread I'm just trying to convince myself to give it another shot. For them...and the Gladiator I ordered and am waiting on.
I’ve had zero issues with my 2021 Gladiator Overland, period. Over one year with no problems to report. My 2018 Wrangler I traded? Not so much. Problems with wheel hop and engine starting.

Knocking on wood, but my Jeeps have actually been my most reliable vehicles. Zero major issues, TSB’s and recalls of course. Heavily modified JT and WK2. My BMWs were god awful, followed closely by my Tundra and Taco. I have subjected my two Jeeps to way more severe treatment than I ever would have imagined doing to the Toyotas… or the BMW’s, but gave those hell on the road. Okay, now I’m going to go find my JT with two dead batteries, a leaking rear axle seal, misfiring due to incorrect lifters, and the updated steering box exploded… I’m scared to open my garage door for the karma I just unleashed upon myself.

I actually bought the WK2 fully expecting “Jeep” reliability and came away very surprised. Hope to keep it that way.

Launch Edition Gladiator with no misfires. 35.9K miles. Only issues so far is touch screen non-responsive when very cold outside and ESS not working (some would call this a feature) because it claims the battery is charging. I am taking to dealer for 1st time to fix??? under warranty.

Oh, I forgot I drenched the dash with the windows/top down. Uconnect was ghost touching for a day and then was fine after drying out. Whew… that one had me worried for a minute or a day actually. 35k and going strong.
