That's why I'm waiting to complete my winch install before my first adventure

Nice, sure does underline the importance of some basic gear.

You did a fine job of plowing the muck out of that hole. Should be much easier for the next vehicle.
I good pair of lightweight chest waders wouldn't be an awful idea.
Clean in the back seat and dirty in the truck bed.

Good advice - winch cable blanket, stay well clear, etc. You were bull dozing mud there for sure, not to mention the suction against the tires.
That winch sure sounded smooth - and when you pulled the rope out to begin with, looks like it followed you pretty easily off the spool, just about right - no fighting it.

Thanks all, The recovery made for a fun day for sure. I like recoveries as they require some on the spot problem solving. Thankfully as much as I like them I don't have to do it that often.

Your JT didn't get dirty at all. You don't have any mud on the hood. LOL

Great video...We have some heavy mud and puddles around here during rainy season, but I have never personally driven through something that deep in mud...When you hit that worse one where you in 4 low or 4 high, did you have off-road+ enabled, and did you have either of your lockers engaged?

Thanks,

This is exactly why I waited to get a winch before doing anything in the Ozark or Ouachita forests!
Arizona being dry I never felt the need. Here in mud? Yeah Im not getting stuck for hours cursing myself haha

Thanks,
So I was in 4 low no lockers and I can't remember if I had off road+ on or off. I was trying to not carry to much momentum as the trail took a turn right there, I used a tree in that turn as my first anchor point. It was much deeper than I thought. I had walked the trail and put a stick in the water before I tried it. I was not though enough as I thought it was maybe a foot of water with a relatively firm bottom. I missed a spot...

I agree having to figure out how to get out of being stuck or broken makes the trail much more memorable.

I used my winch to a tree strap and back to the rear of my cage on my RZR to use it to pick up the rear wheel (like a jack) to fix a broken radius rod and axel recently.

I remember that spot! There were a couple very sketchy mud holes along that trail last year. We lucked out and didn’t get stuck, but it was close.

Sorry you got stopped, not sorry you had the experience!

That sounds like it was interesting for sure.
