I know the Mojave shocks are 2.5 and to some going to a 2.0 seems like the end of the world but a well-tuned shock is an amazing animal vs buying off the shelf...Im hoping someone has experience with this and can shed some light on my dilemma. The Mojave is a daily driver and sees more camping/overlanding/fly fishing trips than rock crawling...

I have the 2.0’s with remote reservoirs from Accutune and it rides amazingly well. I went with the adventure tune. It rides a bit better than a stock Mojave as it just absorbs any kind of bump or irregularities on the road and off-road.

The Mojave I test drove a few times was still good and that was on the stock tires. I’m on 37s and felt just as good. Plus these can be rebuildable in the future.

Mine next to a stock Mojave for reference.

You are going to do better with an aftermarket shock, especially if you can give them specific weights at the corners and the driving style you want them for.

No one knows the specs for MOPAR tuned shocks but MOPAR and the manufacturers, and the manufacturers can't tell you. So without spending some coin to have each MOPAR shock tested, go aftermarket.

Thanks for that...Im on 37's as well, just having a tough time looking at the price difference between the 2 and 2.5. I dont know if I would compare them without throwing in the tune from Accutune, to me that seems like the difference maker.

I agree, Im not deciding on which to buy (I already have a Mojave)...Im wanting to compare any 2.5 to a properly tuned 2.0 shock.

All in I was about $1500 for all 4 from Accutune. Mojave shocks are like 1kish? The price difference is worth it especially custom tuned shocks. I had the same reservations sticking with the 2.0's but I've been happy.

Edit: Just saw you have a Mojave already. I do like how the 2.5s look beefy but the 2.0's from Accutune hold their own in my opinion.

The size doesnt honestly matter (that much), 2 or 2.5, its the shock technology and the tune. The Mojave are bypass shocks, they will absorb fast hits extremely well as thats what bypass shocks do. The limitation is that the mojave shocks are tuned for a stock truck with stock weight, and stock weights at the corners (tires/rims). The accutune stuff will setup for your specific lift, weight at each of the corners as well as weight distribution etc. You can give them a lot of info and they can dial it in indivually to your needs versus an off the shelf stock shock.

Yeah, the shock does get a bit "bouncy" as you keep adding stuff to the Jeep.

Did you give Falcon a thought when going through the shock process? Im wondering how a "off the shelf" 2.5 compares to the tuned 2.0 shock

I did. I did a lot of research on what I was looking for. The consensus I got was that Falcons are quite a bit stiffer than Fox. I wanted a smooth comfortable ride because it’s my daily with off-road capabilities. I didn’t need adjustability which is why I went 2.0 instead of 2.5.

FWIW, I bought Accutuned fox 2.5s for the rear and stock Fox 2.5s for the front (Accutune didn't have the fronts available). The 'tuned' shocks had extremely soft compression damping and rebound damping was way too fast. I ran them with both LSC and HSC dials all the way in, all the time, and the rear would still bounce all over the place. The lack of rebound damping was the main culprit. I bought a shim kit and revalved the rears on my own and now they are good. I learned during the revalve that accutune's tune was actually softer than Fox's stock tune.

The stock fox tune on the front has plenty of compression damping and rebound is just a little too fast still.

So in my situation, The stock Fox tune would have been preferable. Not knocking Accutune or their work, they have good customer service, but there was definitely a disconnect between what I thought I was getting with their tune and what I did get. I'd buy from Accutune again but I'd want to have a long phone call with them to make sure I was getting the right tune, or I'd just buy with the stock valving.

Are you talking oem Mojave shocks? The aftermarket Fox 2.5’s are 3k but I was referring to what comes from the factory.
