Having death wobble issue with my 2020 rubicon gladiator with 48,000 miles and I think it’s the steering box. Looking to get the newer one installed.

I answered it when you asked in the other thread.

Given what you have stated here, you have no coverage and it will be an out of pocket expense for you to have the steering TSB done.

If you have a decent relationship with your local dealership, they can try for a "goodwill" repair request with FCA with either a partial or full coverage possible.

Edit: If you have a unresolved documented steering concerned with your dealership prior to your 3/36K warranty running out, that will give ammo for a goodwill repair request.

DW showing up suddenly at 48k is more likely some other issue. Have you had all the bolts up front properly torqued, checked tire balance, shock wear, steering stabilizer wear, worn bushing on any end links on things like control arms, tie rod, etc?

Also curious what's leading OP to think it's the steering box?

Yeah, agreed... DW is caused by something else... Most times by out of balance tires, and then amplified by loose/worn out parts(s). The steering gear being loose would amplify the oscillations, but not be the cause of a wobble... the only real thing the steering gear would CAUSE is the Jeep to wander.

OP, have your tire balance checked, then rotate them. Do a dry steering test to look for loose connections.

I was fixing to start a post with something similar on a 20 but only 14k miles. Purchased used totally stock and had an 2.5 Icon stage 4 lift installed which includes trackbar and icon pass through SS. Mickey Thompson Boss AT running 28psi (chalk test). I still have the aluminum steering box and honestly drives just like my previous JKU regarding wandering. I wasn't planning on doing the TSB. However I right after the lift was installed the Jeep just felt like it was on the verge of DW when I hit bumps. I have now experienced DW 3 or 4 times in the past month or so. Never had this problem on a lifted JKU.

I just purchased Apex 2.5 ton steering along with Metal Cloak Steering and track bar braces. I have an appointment next Friday for install. I am now questioning if I should hold off and get the dealer to install the new steering box. I have not crawled underneath looking for anything loose with someone moving the steering wheel but I did grab suspension parts and check for looseness. I checked some of the bolts and everything is tight. I'm just so confused at this point on what to do next.

You were right. While installing the parts found adjustable track bar was not adjusted correctly. Even with the aluminum box the Jeep drives fantastic.
