Some built 44s should be perfectly fine for street use, as long as you're not launching the truck hard ie clutch dumps. But for any off roading you need to step it up. 40s and 5.13s and supercharger... honestly I'd just look at sucking it up and dropping the coin on some Rock Jock 60s and be done with it.

I mostly say that cause they're super sexy and I've been eyeballing them for my supercharged TJ on 5.13s for years now. ? But I've also never suffered any failures.

I had Yukon 5.13. Burn out 37's badass
There have been some other posts about Yukons failing. I think Currie was using them in their D60's and having some issues as well.

Like others said I suspect either a bad setup or bad gears. Ive been running JK44s in my YJ on 40s and a 5.3 for over 3 years now. I killed a set of RCVs up front but have never had an issue with the gears or even the factory lockers. They've made it through Pritchett a couple times as well as Coyote Canyon (which makes Pritchett look like Hells Revenge) as well as some pretty gnarly AZ wheelin.

I’ll blame it on lack of coffee man….. missed the 40’s note.

agree with others- time to throw down and weld up some sterlings/60 or pickup Some crate 60’s.
Pretty sure fusion uses motive gear in their builds. Not that you want to deal with swapping gears in the future after going to Ton’s motive customer service is pretty phenomenal.

Just wanted to update everyone, When I got the rear diff covered removed and gears taken out. I found out the pinion was set to 2 tenths instead of the Spec which is 6 tenth - 10 tenths. So pretty much Pinion was way too tight. Getting the jeep re-geared with 5.13 dana instead of yukon. I pick it up on Monday.

Glad you got it figured out. Is the shop that did the gears taking any responsibility?

Just experience from my current setup:

Have the 2021 Rubicon gasser
Magnuson supercharger
Stock axles with 5:13 revolution gears
Clayton 3.5” overland + kit falcon piggyback adjustable shocks
Heavy belly plating
17” wheels zero offset with 37”x13.5” tires (gladiator A/T)

25k total miles, 20k with the Magnuson, the last 5k with above setup I have had zero issues this far

when and if I eventually decide to do an axle swap I will go with the following:

DS Ultra 70 Portal Competition Front and rear Axle JT

Jeep Gladiator Supercharger with 5.13 = Pinion Kaboom 77A64515-460A-4060-9A2A-251253839244

Those look REALLY interesting with the portal design and 4" of lift! My entire budget for axles is $14k-ish... definitely can't afford two of those

No, because I got them installed March 2021 they said they only warranty 1 year after the install. I ended up going to a new shop which was more Local. The place that screwed up was called Premier West Gears in Southern California.

Those axles look badass. I was checking out Dana 60s but was leaning more toward dana 80 rear and 60 is front. But DS Ultra 70 look like the better option. Thanks for the input

2 tenths? You mean .002"? Spec on a Spicer gear set is .003-.006" not sure what a Yukon set would be because I don't use them. Did the shop admit they set it to .002" or how did you come to this conclusion?

Well there is your problem right fucking there. I was dealing with this same issues last year in my Tahoe PPV. Leaving soccer practice with my son and the pinion gear chucked 4 gears and chewed up the ring gear.

1) was installed by a certified vendor and installer for Yukon Gear and Axle........who is no longer a vendor because they kept failing, then Yukon was fucking him on labor to reinstall they Chinesism junk.

2) my Tahoe has a built 5.3 LS with a SBE, 400rwhp/400ftlbs on 93. Nothing crazy, 3.73s with a Circle D 3200 Billet stall converter and full suspension.

3) Yukon Gear and Axle sold a few years ago and now they shit is made in the land of bat stew. Failed with only 11,000 miles......zero track days, just a fun daily driver.

Your problem is not power output, its a junk ring and pinion set that failed.

I opted to tell Yukon Gear and Axles customer service to go fuck themselves because they were trying to place the blame on me and I told them I would get witness statements that I was not "beating" on it per their use of words. They agreed to send me another set but labor was on me. I told them If I'm paying for labor again there was zero fuckin chance I would putting their trash in my truck again. Ended up going with a set from Richmond gear........lifetime warranty as long as the rwhp is under 1000.

So moral of the story.......we both got fucked, tell your friends, family and enemies that Yukon Gear and Axle is trash.......only do it if you like to burn money for fun.

Not cool......If that's the case. I would never hide behind a 12 mo warranty rule. Defective out of the box is defective forever?

That said.....For the price these guys are charging for a gear job, you can't take your time and do it right. $1450 for a JL/JT job? That doesn't even cover the labor in our area.
