I would suggest a boot for the exposed terminals. Something like this:

Yeah, the Warn solenoid comes with 'em and I'm a fan of trying to protect such connections from accidental contact.
I will be using the boots.

I may have to order some of the boots so I can replace the short pieces of vacuum line I have on the breaker studs in my car's engine bay - but I need ones a lot smaller than those.

Yeah I was under a misunderstanding when I included it with my order. I wouldn’t mind having it at this point, but I don’t “need” it.
Just FYI my CAI came installed from the factory. Interestingly, the big (useless) plastic engine cover didn't come with the JT. I assume it doesn't fit with the CAI. It was so long ago that I drove a JTR without CAI that I don't know how much noise difference it makes, but it certainly isn't quite.

They stopped the cover in 2021. Nothing to do with air filter boxes. There's a big thread about the missing engine covers here somewhere.
I don't miss it with my 22. My 20 had it.

On a related note. How are you routing your cables through the engine bay to the battery? Mine looks like a mess. I have it coming up inside the finder Linder and headlight, then wrapping around the air intake, but it's a very convoluted route. Plus I also have front KC lights going the same way and it's very crowed. I would like a "cleaner" solution.

From battery area, down to the left of the air box, behind the fender liner to the frame rail, carefully bundled and zip tied to the frame, then towards driver side through the hole in the frame, then under the bottom of the front grill to the winch. I triple verified that the tire can’t get anywhere near the cables where they are zip tied to the frame rail. I also never leave power to the winch from the solenoid when the vehicle is moving, unless actively winching.

Just installed mine. Cables were run behind the bumper, up behind the passenger headlight, under the wire looms to the fuse box then to the free posts on the battery connections.

I might tweak as time permits and I look at other routes. I’ve got an inline switch to power the winch when needed and the circuit is off when not.

I pulled the air box.... made it a ton easier. I ran back along frame then up near the PS pump and up between air box and battery. It's hard to describe, but shining a light down between battery and air box then getting under the truck and looking up, you can see a clear path.
I had to run two pairs of cables....... a pair for the winch and a pair for the plow.
Not even close to the right wheel because it's all inside the engine bay on the engine side of the frame, then up. If they get damaged then I have worse things to worry about.
I did have to be careful to keep them away from the PS pump and another pulley down there.

I'm now modifying my electrics and brackets a bit to add a 12v outlet under the hood near the battery. I can run Christmas lights from it instead of stringing a wire into the cab from the grill, and if I do add a remote camera, some of them charge via use - I can pop a USB charger adapter into the 12v outlet. I'll tie it into the current 12v outlet circuit.

Sometimes pulling things out is the best way to find a clear path.

When I ran my winch power lines I did not pull the air box and I found a reasonable line but between the air box and battery was tight. That was about 3 months ago. Yesterday I pulled my air box, the air intake tube (official name?), and the radiator fan and shroud assembly. All of this was to do a deep clean unrelated to the winch. While all that stuff was out though I learned that taking the air box out is pretty easy and WELL worth the time. I rerouted my power lines and it’s cleaner and simpler now.

Cable from positive battery post comes up to this solenoid post from the bottom. I then feed the plow using the cable that's in your face here.

I ran the lead from positive battery to winch solenoid and then figured - why run the plow feed all the way to the battery + ? So I ran the lead to the plow 200 amp fuse from the side of the solenoid where the winch positive cable goes. This way there is just one lead from bat +.
I used the rear solenoid post as a terminal to get power for the plow from.
Otherwise, the solenoid for the winch is not changed in any way.

Instead of using a 200 amp fuse, what about using a 200 amp marine grade breaker? Something like this https://www.westmarine.com/sierra-200a-circuit-breaker-panel-mount-20376430.html ? I did not install the winch or wiring and am not thrilled by the frontal impact potential problems. Any reason that this won’t work to protect from a problem in the event of a crash but still give adequate current to a Warn 8k pound winch?

What's the rating in amps draw of that winch?
200 amps isn't even close for many winches - for example, the Warn M8000 can draw over 400 amps!

Here's for another Warn - the EVO, I believe. Note that at only 6,000 pound pull you are well over 200 amps.
I'd hate to be in the middle of a recovery and blow a fuse! (or trip a breaker and having to wait for it to cool and reset it)
