No auto maker notifies owners about service bulletins.
Agreed. TSB's are written for the dealership tech consumption only on what to do when presented for a problem. They are not intended reading for the end user customer.

Sounds like an opportunity for Jeep to buck the trend and create some differentiation, then. Most Jeep owners I know will just say "it's a jeep thing" when things like this come up and either live with it, fix it on their own, or look to the after market. Proactive notifications would go a long way to increase customer sat and loyalty.

Having @JeepCares come here and post some of these is a great move in that direction.

And who decides, and how, which of the hundreds go out?
Also.....most customers aren't noticing or complaining. The internet and forums magnify the complaints. I never noticed it as a problem or issue on my 2020. Only in extreme rains when i was already getting wet but with slush mats who cares?

It is a lofty ideal but would create more problems than it solves. There is probably hundreds of TSB's that are generated over the course of a vehicle life cycle. A TSB is not to say a vehicle will have a problem but for what the tech is to do when presented with it.

Putting every TSB out there and pushed to the end users will have the dealerships clutter with every mouth breather not understanding what they are looking at thinking they have problem and if they do not, wanting it "fixed" anyways thinking they are mitigating something.

They already do it to some degree when things fall short of a true safety recall and are put out there as "Customer Service" campaigns.

Don't get me wrong, I realize the complexity and never said it would be easy. Just pointing out that sometimes doing things the same way because "that's how it's always been done" is usually a good opportunity for someone to jump in and disrupt the status quo and come up with a better solution.

If it wasn’t @JeepCares posting the TSB, another member would certainly have done so… it’s just a matter of time that someone who has complained on the forum of the problem takes their. jeep in for service and complains about getting wet and gets the TSB applied - then shares their experience here!

Had mine done yesterday for my Mojave Build 7/20/22 and it sure cut down on the wind noise which I wasn't expecting that but made a huge difference

I'd call this an improved design - not that the original was "flawed" really. Not ideal, no, but hardly a warranty item, IMO. This is just "better", either a lot better or marginally so - that's up to the individual.

Water from driver side drip rail, which ideally is slanted inward, drops off the front of the drip rail to the rubber "funnel".

Water follows the inside of the "funnel" or guide, like water does, clinging to the smooth surface, and drips or runs into the plastic channel below -

Same for right side - water hopefully caught as it exits the front of the right drip rail, into the rubber guide/funnel and follows that forward and down -

On a related note, I bought these on Amazon after reviewing a bunch of options and seeing so many reviews on both sides (works/doesn't work) I decided to try them myself:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08L6HD8TP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought these because they said they worked with the soft top, which I have.

I am pleased to report that if you SEAL them to the rain gutter (they recommend silicone caulk, I used pliable "Coax Seal", which is like butyl) that they do indeed work. If you do not seal them, they provide no relief at all...

These don't stop any road noise, or leaking when the door is closed (which I think was the purpose of the TSB) but they DO stop the "wet thigh" effect when you open your door and all the water pours from the front of the rain gutter.

I have a 2022 with this "fix" and what I have found (when the door is open) is that the rain just pours right off the front lip of that extra piece in your pic, right where the mucket foam is peeking out.

Does yours work with the door open, or just funnel into the channel when the door is closed?

We haven't had rain in so long - I can't even remember the last time my truck was in the rain here.
Right now it's freezing drizzle, 30 degrees with 40 mph winds so I don't feel like going to check LOL.
Seriously, I don't remember driving it in any rain since I got it. If I have and simply am not remembering, I must not have gotten wet.

That being said - I do question the size of the channel the water is supposed to follow in this piece - and what is the foam all about?

@JeepCares why the heck would this be disqualified under the warranty mileage limits? It was a flawed design from day one, not 1-36k miles.

@AllMoparParts.com can you guys help with a part for those that get stiffed by @JeepCares?
Yes we will put a kit together for those that would like to self install the parts. I will update you all once its live.

Thank you,
- Benny

Just picked up my 2020 Gladiator Sport S from my dealer this afternoon, they had it for 2 days to install the left and right A-Pillar seals and the Windshield Header seal per the TSB 23-041-21 REV. A. Will keep everyone posted on if these seals take care of the water running in onto the floor!
