Your sound reasoning on subjects reminds me of the excellent instructors I had in mechanics school way, way back.

How far back? We were actually rebuilding starters, alternators, generators - and even radiators as well as all the mechanical systems. Truly understanding the basics can save a lot of diagnostic time.
