No issue using some padding I just envisioned someone making some adhesive or magnetic bumpers that mount to the top portion of the window frame that would let you safely rest the hood all the way back. It really opens up the view especially working around the fuse box/battery etc and let's alot more light in.I mean, it's pretty safe as it is.
Are you asking if someone makes a piece of padding you can put between the hood and upper windshield when it's folded all the way back? I haven't seen anything, I suspect that's because it's not something you'd want on all the time. Or are you asking about something else more safety related?
I can only think of a few situations where I've wanted the hood that far open. 90% of maintenance doesn't need that. What's the issue with using a towel or some foam during maintenance that requires the hood to be that far open?
No way. Your talking about a vehicle who's popular aftermarket includes angry grills, doors off-foot rests, 100 different models of toppers that end up in the for sale section, and a fan base that enjoys putting toy ducks on each other's jeeps. If someone actually made a product like this, I'm fairly certain they would be mocked off of the face of the planet. Any old shop rag or towel on the windshield does more than enough to keep the hood from hurting the windshield.
Touche my man, touche...No way. Your talking about a vehicle who's popular aftermarket includes angry grills, doors off-foot rests, 100 different models of toppers that end up in the for sale section, and a fan base that enjoys putting toy ducks on each other's jeeps.
A subtle self adhesive low profile rubber strip or grommet on the hood or windshield frame would not be very noticeable.
Ah, make the brick even less aerodynamic. No way. Your talking about a vehicle who's popular aftermarket includes angry grills, doors off-foot rests, 100 different models of toppers that end up in the for sale section, and a fan base that enjoys putting toy ducks on each other's jeeps.

That very true about the bugs. That top frame gets hammered with bug guts!Ah, make the brick even less aerodynamic.
Frankly, around here, the bugs would build up so bad on such a thing you'd be replacing it every single trip to town. It's bad enough having to clean the bugs off what little ledge there is at the top of the windshield frame.
It would likely create more noise as well. Ask those who have a panel that's ever-so-slightly out of alignment so it sticks up .015" more than it should how much noise it makes. It's not a leak, it's a wind-catcher.
Just go buy some basic adhesive foam.............
All of the work I've done on mine tearing things apart, wiring in my snow plow and more and I've only one time in 3 years felt like I needed the hood back. But then I'm used to working on Camaros, Javelins, Corvettes, etc where there's zero head-room.
This jeep gives me more room than anything else I've owned or driven.
How about small pads instead of a strip? 3M makes self-adhesive foam (closed cell) pads in many shapes and sizes.

It’s not. What about putting some clear 3m film along the top of the windshield header? That’d probably be good enough to protect both hood and header if you were fairly gentle laying hood back…
