Yep. The diesel filter has charcoal filtering. The gasser doesn't.

Ironically the ones you can buy online for the gasser have the charcoal.

Amazon Just delivered this and I installed it in 45-seconds. Appreciated the link! Way cheaper than the OEM part, looks identical except it’s a single piece rather than 2 separate. However, you can gently squish it and it fits like a glove. Thanks again!
Awesome! Worth changing early too. Only at 7k miles and there was a lot of dirt in the OE filter already.

Interestingly, the one I've pulled out of my new (Diesel) gladiator is 68565698AA, which is now superseded by 68301863AA.
The one I ordered online that is allegedly compatible/the right one for my vehicle would be 68364653AA (the one in the OP). Now, please look at the picture below and tell me there isn't an issue lol. Did they mess it up at the factory? Or do the websites have it wrong?

Everything points to the fact that I had a gasser filter in my unit, and judging by the uniform color, of the used filter, the air passed through all the medium's surface.

Like, how does that even work? It fits, both in length and width (for width, one has to press the filter on the side at the insertion as there is something in the way, but it expands nicely once in place).

It feels like the filter in the OP, and recommended in different places, would let the air pass by left and right instead of forcing it through?

Edit: Wow, I think I got it. 2 are needed. And this is probably done such as they can be installed without the hassle of having to squeeze the filter, as I mentioned above. ?

Correct. I had that same WTF moment when I popped the original 1 piece one out and was standing there with a new one in my hand half the size. I also think the two piece one is slightly quieter. I have used both and the gas one started making a buffeting noise.
