It's crazy that we need to spend $100 to have a map light on top of a $50k+ vehicle.
And have to worry about batteries too. FWIW I think the directional LEDs work just fine. Maybe I’m just not used to nice things.

@SWAT524 thanks!

I hear some naysayers, any better options?

I think a small led light bar with a push button, attach under rear view mirror and also tap power from the mirror is a good and cheap solution.

This will work great when I start printing out my directions on MapQuest in 2003!

I looked at these, but I have the trigger six shooter control panel in that spot. i might put some velcro there and get some stick on push button marker lights. One red and one green.

Do people really find the directional leds on the center pillar not good enough or is it a higher trim only feature?

These would be so easy to convert into a hardwired light. Still don't see the need for them in the first place though...
I would rather wire in some cool ambient light or some rocklight from aux switch up there to the same location.

Have a torch with magnet on the driver and passenger seat rail.
Then we have cell phones and the cabin is bright enough from the uconnect and the middle light.

Agree! What for is that needed?

And have to pay extra for led headlights and tail lights package
But that part makes sense - it's a personal choice to have different lights other than what's required.

I reach up and turn on the bar lights above my head - works pretty well. Have used them to look at maps and lists when traveling at night.
Absolutely would be simple to convert. I HATE batteries! Tons of battery crap already and have to stock batteries for my chop saw laser light, my table saw angle gauge, router depth gauge, my chemical scale, the list goes on and on and they all take different batteries. I've got 3 battery chargers in the house as it is.

The 4 on the sport bar seem to fit my needs just fine? Worst case I flip on the dome light for even more light.
