Really hate how we're essentially being forced to convert to this garbage
Agreed.. it is a terrible thing to really look into what it takes to make these EV's.. what's involved in the mining of the required elements. Shameful.

I don't believe this at all. Electric extremism is collapsing under the weight of its huge battery of lies.

Thank God fossil fuels don't require mining and drilling as well, if we can just stop evs we won't ever need to mine or drill again since nothing else uses those same precious metals that we mine and drill for and my ICE runs on sunshine and rainbows!?

I have no interest in going green, but I'll call bullshit when I see bullshit. If you don't want an EV don't buy an EV, but you know it's a hypocritical argument about how not green they are when what we currently use is just as bad or worse for the environment.

Reminds me of the argument against nuclear power where because it's not perfect then we might as well not use it even though it would clearly have been a better technology long term.

If people weren't unnecessarily scared of nuclear powerplants, we'd have no trouble generating enough clean electricity for all the EVs the government wants to persuade us to buy.

Yeah, I did not read into it that ICE would be dead across the Jeep lineup, just that every model will have a electrified variant. I doubt the ICE Gladiator would be phased out by 2025 and as mentioned, probably a 4XE variant or a E-Torque model will be available alongside a ICE model.

There is already starting to be indicators that EV model demand is slowing a bit with current economic realities, charge performance and infrastructure lagging. Ford F-150 lighting is an example. Every Lightning is suppose to be a sold customer order with none slated for dealer ordered sales. There is over 1000 F-150 Lightnings currently listed as being on lots available for sale and that is not "In-Transit" automatic listings either. That is a lot people walking away from their orders.
I think you're right about lagging sales of EVs. We ordered a Rav4 PHEV Prime (due in March). Plug-ins make more sense now until battery life and rapid charging are available. I believe that many just purchased an EV because it was "cool", but later learned that their long trips weren't easy to accomplish. I'm sure that EVs and hydrogen powered vehicles are in the future, but they're not yet practical. I'm surprised that they don't make more PHEVs. You can run around town (Rav4 Prime has a 42 mile range on EV), and go to grandmas in another state on the ICE. Who knows what the auto manufacturers think? There was another discussion here about PHEVs. Some here already have them including the 4xE Wrangler.

Agreed. I love when pro-EV folks — who are absolutely GIDDY about government mandates that will eventually force us all into them -- simply can’t understand why someone would NOT want an EV right now.

It’s like, just because YOU like an EV doesn’t mean that EVERYONE has to like or want them. Heck, just because I like my Jeep Gladiator doesn’t mean that everyone has to like or want the Gladiator.

But for some reason when it comes to EVs, people lose their shit. And it’s usually the folks who like/want them and think everyone else should like/want them too.

I always have an opinion on this topic but it’s really moot. Why? Hitting any of the lofty pie in the sky projections for EV sales will require an exponential increase in the mining and processing of the required elements, a rate of increase that is beyond anything ever done. Basically if this imaginary demand were to materialize, we could NEVER support the required supply. Not to mention you’ll then start competing with consumer products like cell phones, TVs, etc. I heard a great interview on this topic, the takeaway is that we couldn’t possibly produce this many batteries. Not to mention the human rights and environmental implications from child slave labor mining cobalt in the Congo….

Yeah, it seems to attract the "Govern Me Harder, Daddy!" crowd.
Hilarious.. and I'm just gunna say it - out loud. It's one thing to plan responsively and take proactive steps in caring for the environment. Who wouldn't want that? That's kinda like picking up trash other ass-munchers leave out on the trail. But, this whole ESG, Green 'movement' has evolved into nothing less than a full on cult. When did being responsible about the environment change into wanting to ban gas stoves, making us eat freakin' bugs, and trying to control every aspect of our lives. Wait till you see where they try to take this within 2 years. Sure, I'm wearing my tin foil hat - but it's not conspiracy theory when the shit's actually happening.

I would rather die of the fireball Earth is supposedly going to become than hand over control of the world's car market to China (in Lithium batteries).

I am not against EV's or those that like them. I am against the effort to prematurely force the platform by mandate and at the expense of my tax dollars subsidizing for what is basically upper middle class and up customers

I absolutely need the Ecodiesel to tow. The Pentastar simply won’t go uphill with a horse in my trailer. I’m wondering about the towing capacity of a 4XE. Range is an issue in Utah. Bolts, Leafs, and even Teslas can be found littering the sides of the road and very remote places.

I take trips to parts of NV etc. where I don't think there will be any charging stations this century.
The whole worlds going crazy…

I haven’t read this entire thread, but he said the whole line would be “electrified”, not that the entire line would be true EVs. The e-torque version of the 3.6 is technically “electrified” mild hybrid. I think the entire line being hybrid of some sort is more likely what is meant.
