Finally got around to calling the local dealers to make an appointment for the JT, the dealer I got mine from is kinda far so I called 5 local dealers to make appointments for a misfire and some other things, they all turned me away by saying we are not taking any new customers or they have no appointments available until late April, finally called the dealer i got it from and they said the same thing, but they said I can drop it off and they can try to fit me in this week no guarantee.

Is this happening by you? I'm in NY

Are they so busy they don't want new customers or do they lose money on outside customer warranty work?

and this also can't be a good sign that they have so many service issues, I know they are jeeps and people abuse them but this is far from my first jeep new from a dealer and never had that response before...

The dealer I bought from and use for service is backed up 2-3 days due to qualified labor issues and parts supply issues to an extent. Anything requiring diagnostics is going to get in queue.

I did take mine in for an alignment yesterday at 8:00 and it was finished by 11:30.

I had great luck at a small dealer by me in CT. Not sure if that's too far from you tho.

in central DE dealers are running about 2-3 weeks behind on scheduling services other than oil changes and tire rotations. Seems like we are seeing the effect of the lazy labor force as well. (in my experience at least)

I could live with long waits. Unfortunately, every service center ( total of three) are either totally incompetent and or flat out lie to your face.
Get ready to hear “we can’t find any problems”. Seems to be part of the training at Jeep.

Same happening here in Europe, but the longest waits are because of spare parts.
Ford Boss Me on YouTube is kinda saying the same thing about Fords.
To swamped to work on and fix old issues, no spares for new issues and not enough people to fit em all in

FWIW, I'm in the Phoenix area and while I haven't run into the same scheduling issues you are describing, I can say that I currently have 2 JKUR's and 1 JTR that I bought from "Dealer A" and always take them for service at "Dealer B". I learned early on that "Dealer A" has a great Sales staff and will actually deal on new cars but their Service department is the worst I've seen in my life. "Dealer B" won't budge of the sticker for sales but have a great service department. I even spoke with a Sales guy at "Dealer B" who also won't buy from the dealership that he works at and actually buys his vehicles from "Dealer A".

It's strange how they can have such different personalities. It's likely that's what you are seeing.

Counterpoint: dealership tech pay is garbage for what the job entails. "Nobody wants to work anymore" is not really true imo. There aren't thousands of people just sitting at home. Covid caused a massive seismic shift in the various industries and people were able to move into better paying jobs as a result of that.

Most of the good techs that know what they're doing will go heavy duty or private fleets. Way less bullshit and drama.

I think thats a fair thought and not really something most would consider. I doubt that most dealerships are keeping up with inflation and increasing wages to be competitive. Inflation is hard to keep up with at the moment given its through the roof, but wages certainly arent keeping pace. In a couple years well see entire studies and books on the social and economical impact of the vid and the shut downs.

In conjunction with the shift in the industry, id be willing to be that less and less workers are inclined to be a service tech or "mechanic" since the DOE has spent decades pumping the whole "you need a college degree to be successful at everything" narrative. Im by no means versed in the auto mechanic world but i remember growing up seeing commercials for certification centers that folks could go to and get an ASE certification. Havent seen them in a LONG time. (anecdotal for sure, just my observation)
