Looks like a very cool, if expensive, idea.

If they designed a tonneau built to work with attachable sides you could run a really expensive but quite cool and convertible modular cap/tonneau.

Be interesting to see if they bring a working system to market. Very few patents the auto makers file and get ever come to market. They use the patent system to deny their competitors from bringing like systems online also and keep it as a back pocket thing to pull out later if at all.
