Does not. Ordered from Amazon. Make sure to also order rollers to adhere it to the roof. Deadener works by preventing vibration (sounds) from getting through. If you don’t get proper adhesion it’s pointless.
A damper of sorts. Same reason some car companies sprayed a heavy later of a tar like substance inside the doors, against the outer skin, before putting the works in the doors. It prevented the typically flat door skins from vibrating.

Highly recommend. I went with Hot-Head on my Gladiator and had the MOPAR headliner on my JK. Both make significant difference in the Arizona heat of 100+ degrees for 4 months on a black top. AC runs more efficiently to cool cabin and sound system sounds better too. Great investment for small cost. Both of mine use 3M tape and never have budgeted for years.
did you apply any sound deadener underneath the Hotheads ? I'm wondering how well the filtment would be. I have been looking to add a liner, hotheads seems to be one of the more popular, but I would like some extra sound dampening.

I did not. The hot heads panel is already pretty thick and uses what looks to be heat reflective material and deadening already. The tight clearances would be compromised IMO with additional material. There is no need for deadening material IMO.. it’s purely for heat insulation and to pretty up the interior as I never liked the white panels. I honestly don the think added material will significantly reduce any noise. THe cabin is already pretty darn quite for a Jeep..

Ive also done this mod w/great results. The CoverKing top is very nice, but not crazy about the double sided tape. In some areas I used 3M spray adhesive. I used some sound deadener off Amazon. I like that it darkens the inside too.

Hothead sells sound dampening kits to go with the headliners. They are strips of material that go in between the ridges on the roof. They have a video clip on the website showing how effective the material is.

I’ll retest today but based on drive #1 it’s a big improvement, no more echo chamber off the hardtop. They say 2-3 decibels down with just the headliner so I think the sound dampener made the difference. Took 5-6 hours to do everything.
What thickness Siless did you use?

80 mil on the freedom panels and 80 mil on the top and 120 on the sides of the back cover. In hindsight I could have done 120 mil on the freedom panels if I took my time too.

Is the Coverking much harder to install
Over the 120? Could you have done the whole thing in 120?

Yes and yes. You’ll want to have plenty of additional adhesive. It’s mounded to fit perfectly. The thicker the deadener, the more you’ll have to stretch or smash it into place in areas.. No other way to put it but when you do it you’ll know exactly what I mean….

I think a spray adhesive one other post mentioned here is a great idea. Look back on that but do your own research to make sure it’ll take the hot/cold temps and still stick.

Note to Coverking….

The only issue I have is a lack of clear directions. I realize you’re probably a small business but a simple instruction sheet with tips & tricks for the install. Maybe a follow-up email post order placement with links to good install resources or videos. It would go a long way and make sure you are directing customers rather than leaving them to find assistance. Great product but for less skilled individuals it might be frustrating….

Also, maybe offer a couple sheets of additional double-sided tape for $10. Otherwise, great product.

Here is my feedback to add on to this:

The only "instructions" that came with my kit was a single sheet of paper with a URL to their YouTube installation video. If you are going to print/waste a single sheet of paper, include a full size picture of the recommended placement of the adhesive. The YouTube video "shows" this but it's basically an inset picture that is impossible to see.

CoverKing, you could easily print that URL at the top of the sheet of paper and include a decent diagram of the recommended adhesive placement. Or put a PDF on your site of the diagram.

What did you use to make that attic?
I used some old carbon fiber tent poles, about 4ft 6mm rope for the ends and about 300ft of paracord. I’m in the backcountry right now and can’t upload pics but if you search my user name in the “What did you do to your Gladiator today?” thread you’ll see the pics.
Brief thread hijack:
@RedBearon I figured I throw some pics in for you now that I'm back from the wild.

Old carbon fiber tent poles cut to the correct length to span the back of the Gladiator. 6mm rope to provide a non-stretchy end and to attach the paracord to. Start weaving (there are a lot of YouTube videos on how to weave a net, just have to find the style you like):
Jeep Gladiator Coverking headliner installed with sound deadening material. Lowered sound decibels in cabin significantly RearAttic01

I wound up attaching the rear pole to my Rhino Rack Back Bone and the front is tied off to a couple of bolts on top of the roll cage.

Hijack complete....

Attention to the end customers experience with an install like this is good business, purely constructive feedback.

Regardless, just drove to the office in a pretty good rain and I could hear the radio without turning it up…. ?

I’m a happy Jeeper and got a great end result. Cheers!
