Finished prototype 1. Will test it for a few weeks and see how it holds up.

I think they came out great.

So when you offer these, they will be plug and play; IE they will have OEM style connectors?

I can handle minor imperfections......if you're a perfectionist like me; I'm sure these small things are going to be unseen to the average person.

I'm sure some good filler primer and a couple coats of base coat and sanding will look mint.
The ones that are on my truck right now took :

1. Sanding with 80 grit to get all the layer lines gone asap. Then working my way up to 320 grit.

2. After 320 grit I filler primed it. Sanded back with 320, filler primed again, then sanded up to 1000 grit.

3. Then I painted 3 coats , and baked it in my 3d printer champer for a hour.

I still have a slight few sanding scratches I can see, and other people could be able to see from around 2ft away.

But this process is far from ideal for me to produce them.

Hopefully new printers will help with this.

The resin printer I have would probably work perfectly, but resin is too much of a pain when it comes to clean up and smell.

Hopefully my new bambu lab printers will be fast and detailed. We will see soon

Yes that is correct... Looking for connectors , so far the best I can find is from oracles adapter to run their rear fog lights to tap into reverse signal.

These adapters are $27 a piece it looks like.

https://www.extremeterrain.com/oracle-jeep-gladiator-plug-play-wiring-adapter-for-reverse-lights-5880-504.html?utm_content=XT Lights - Other|Oracle&T5_Var4=JG15081&utm_campaign=XTG+Gladiator+Vehicle+Medium+LTVTop&dialogtech=ppc&utm_source=google-pla&utm_medium=shopping&T5_Var2=shopping&gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItZ_xm_zl_gIVMujjBx0_tABsEAQYASABEgJ6k_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Still looking for cheaper alternatives if anyone can help.
$54 for the connectors, thats a cost I'd be willing to absorb.

Let me see if I can find some thing out on the intawebs

Looks like the OEM stuff is going to be more expensive

68420605AB LF/drive side / $37.19
68420606AB RT/Passenger side / $38.70

Yeah that's crazy... Trying to find no hyper flash adapters for the JT but I guess they don't make them. They would be around $20 to $30 for 2.

I have also found where I can get the physical lights for almost the half price.

I can bulk order in a minimum quantity of 16 lights for a total cost of $626.

That's roughly $39 per light when I was paying $74.

Of course I would want to make sure that I have at least 8 people who would want this style light before I do this purchase.

In all honesty, I'll probably never make back the time and money spent on creating all of this. I find it fun and enjoy doing it. If China starts creating them, then even better, at least every one would be able to get a set at a reasonable price...

I would be more than happy to give my 3d printing files to people so they could print them for their self if I knew they were only going to use them for their self and not take my work and sell them to others.

I don't even imagine that many people are going to know about my lights and want them. So at the moment, I would just like to help the members here out and give them something other jeeples won't have :)
Look into the GPL and other open source licenses.

here is start: https://publicknowledge.org/policy/3-steps-for-licensing-your-3d-printed-stuff/

This is looking really cool!

If you do decide to sell the files, I would definitely buy them to mess around with for myself.

For manufacturing you may want to consider contacting Threedom, they seem to have commercial 3D printing well sorted out.

Right now the cost for a pair of tail lights cost me around $175 to make.

That's with out my time of doing anything. Like soldering up the wires, sanding, painting......

Production wise I would like to be able to produce 4 lights a day. Which would be 2 sets of lights.

If I sell a pair at $350, I'm not making much lol. But I wouldn't mind doing it as a side gig while I work my normal day job.

So while I'm at work, I would have the shrouds printing. Come home, install lights, solder up pig tails and be good to go.

So at the moment that is my plan of action.

Anyone who still has their factory tail lights in,

Can you test to see if the side marker corner lights have blinker function too or just on constantly....
