I live in a mountain town that gets a lot of snow. You don’t need a Jeep for winter driving. Any 4wd or good awd with snow tires performs great in the snow. Not really. In my area. If you have one vehicle. It should be a 4x4 of some type. Winter sucks at times. If you have 2 vehicles. One should be a 4x4 truck. The JL fits the need for some people.
I love my Jeep but I don’t see the appeal if you don’t off-road. My stock jt was the worst driving vehicle I have driven in my life by a mile. They are loud, the seats aren’t remarkably comfortable and they lack luxury features that many other vehicles have at the same or lesser price point. Solid front axles aren’t in other vehicles for a reason and if you don’t utilize them, you’d be better off with a vehicle with ifs.
It’s an unpopular opinion but I am grateful for all the people who buy them so they continue to produce them.
