Just curious what the typical expected lifespan of an aux battery is. There are lots of variables that this simple poll can't address - such as climate vehicle is in, average miles driven daily, whether or not the auto stop-start is typically used or turned off, etc. ... but this should give us a very rough idea of what to expect generally.

Please do not respond if you have removed or bypassed your aux. battery and disabled auto stop-start.

My 2020 gladiator failed at 21k miles and 6 months. Second set failed at 35k or so 6 months later.

my 2022 diesel began failing at 6 months and finally killed the battery at 28k miles. I deleted the aux and installed a larger odyssey battery and now have 14v while cruising.

Whether or not ESS is used has little effect on the life of the batteries.

The average life expectancy of AGM batteries in the JT is three years.

The biggest killer is not keeping them charged. Drive it at least thirty minutes a day, or use a battery maintainer to keep it charged if not driven regularly.

The original batteries in my Overland lasted over three years from the production date. Main battery died at 3.5 years, ESS battery at 4 years.

Cruising voltage is not an indicator of battery health. That voltage is the alternator output, not battery. You need to check voltage at rest, not running, for the battery.

In fact, if you find you’re constantly at 14v all the time, that might actually indicate a problem as the charging system should only be charging when needed, not constantly.

2020 Gladiator Overland Purchased June 2020 - 66676 miles. I regularly disable to ESS (-and i love that feature) every time I start my vehicle. I normally only leave it active if I am stuck in major traffic to conserve fuel.

Batteries are OEM in service since Nov or Dec 2019 when built.

Second day without starting or driving, battery voltage 13.1 charging at .01 amp. :giggle: solar system on it. House battery/ solar system at 14.1 both are under charging due to temperature. :) Solar systems since Apr or May 2020. Simply thing is if not running for a while have a trickle charging system. IMHO

Mines still going strong at 75,000 miles. My main went out at 54,000 and right at 3yrs which is about how long I would expect it to last roughly. My neighbor is at 127,000 on his in his JLU. He's on his 3rd Main I think.

One year 7000 miles still going strong. . Western Colorado garaged. Always turn off ess unless I forget. Ess wants to work soon as I back out of driveway. I check volts now and then and they are usually 12.84 But thinking of attaching a battery tender for when not using for a couple of days ? Volts drop a little but not bad yet.

On my 2020 the thing still had original batteries and ESS still worked as intended when intended at 27,000 - the point when I traded it for my 2022.
And so far it's working GREAT on the 22.
I do periodically use the volt meter in the cluster or even off-road pages and check where things are at........... but I've observed that the 22 charges at higher voltages than the 20 did. I need to compare some settings some day - but observation over the years says something has been changed. And on my 2020 I did fully charge both batteries independently and reset the IBS at that time.

Just traded in my 2020 Sport S for a 2023 Mojave. Battery fine / just under 50,000 miles. Actually absolutely no issues with the car at all.
