I am at the point of purchasing a Gladiator Ecodiesel. My question is would you try and hold out and get a brand new one if/when sale ban is lifted which might be in the next month (I get it might, might not....this is hypothetical) or buy used. I'm looking for 22 or newer with around 15K give or take.

I mean stands to reason they will be dumping the new ones if they are able to get a fix out with huge discounts.....which is the itch in my brain that I cannot stop thinking about. I don't have a fear of buying used....I am just looking to get the most for my money at this point.

Again....if you were in my shoes.....what would you do?

I would suggest giving up on a new Gladiator with a diesel in 2024.

As far as I know, the small diesel is dead at Stellantis.

Go try to build a 2024 RAM with a 3.0 on the website.

I'm not sure that you understand.....pretty much every jeep dealership has 2023 Gladiator Ecodiesels sitting in a back lot they cannot sell because they are under recall ie STOP SALE. Once the recall fix is installed....whenever the fix is truly available....they can sell those new ones. This is what I mean buy buying new.

You can hold your breath, but personally I don't think they'll ever see the front of the lot.

Neither JEEP nor the manufacturer of the diesel have seemed too interested in fixing the problems they know exist, and since JEEP has decided to not include diesels in the 2024 lineup I would say the interest is near dead.

Just seen in another thread of people posting screen grabs showing the recall with a stated fix of replacing the HPFP and inspect the lines and injectors and replace as necessary.

That mean the stop sale is going to get lift eventually and those 2023 diesel models will come up for sale. I would not expect any more premium discount other than what the current and future incentives put out there.

No one can answers the question of what is the right choice for you and will probably fall into the category of how risk adverse are you and if you are willing to accept what comes with owning it?

Once the recall goes through. Pick up a left over '23 diesel. I image that they want to get rid of any '23's sitting on the lots.

I'd wait for the fix to happen and try and buy a brand new 23.
If that happens to work out, great, if not you can always buy a used one.

From my reading here on the forum, somewhere between 1-4% of the high pressure pumps have failed. I'm willing to take that chance and I have a new diesel on order, I just hope they build it :)

The Fix is available now, so you better make a decision whatever it is.

Ask if you can put a deposit on the one you want. That way it's yours when they are fixed. Sit back and wait. If I could afford another I'd buy a second one.

Some of the diesels listed around here(there are still not too many at this point) are 15% off of MSRP. When it gets to 20% off, I might consider buying. Most are aware that Jeep is abandoning the diesel, this might incentivize the dealers to offer some larger discounts.........

I'd wait until after the fix/recall is performed and then find one that is optioned the way I want it, at a good deal.
