Auto stop, worst idea ever just got worse.

This sorry ass piece of shit invention was as delightful as a hemorrhoid when it worked perfectly, now at 10,000 miles it decided to start malfuntioning. First it was just the dash light but now it sometimes stalls me out when it jars to life. Can't get into the dealer for another 10 days, how many of you guys have or are currently enjoying this? Anyone know what actually causes this problem and what to expect?

It's a 22 with just over 10,000 miles on it. And no I didn't do any mods that affect electrical. It's lifted that's it.

Test both batteries separately, check for any loose connections.

There should be more than one Jeep dealer in Las Vegas - I would call around to see who can take it in sooner.

Disconnect the negative terminal from the aux battery, remove fuse 42

Also check to see if there are any TSBs out for your vehicle. There’s also a thread in this forum where a guy made a YT video about things ( other than batteries) that can cause other issues. It’s titled something like “don’t replace your batteries before checking these things first “, or something like that. I think he calls out the terminal plate thing on the side of the fuse box, battery post connections, and a few more items ( voltage detector? ).

Either the main battery is bad or the Aux battery. If I had to guess the main more than likely. It happens but it's a pretty solid invention though.

The ESS light on the dash shows when the Aux battery has failed the startup test or if the ESS system has detected another system problem that prevents it from working.

Yeah as others have said, this isn't an ESS problem, but rather that it has detected a problem somewhere else with the truck and has disabled ESS as a result.

Don't get mad at ESS for the light, thank it for letting you know there's a problem somewhere.

Aux battery is probably dying

Again - assume much? Could be either, or neither. Could be a connection issue like a LOOSE cable clamp (refer to Tyson's video).

Yeah, it's possible, but "probably" is not as accurate.

Best to check the connections at the crank battery - make sure you can't turn or move the cables - check those ground cable nuts on the IBS, check the IBS clamp and that it fits tightly to the negative battery post, check the positive cable connection.

Charge each battery, test each battery, if they check out fine and charge fine using an AGM charger (several hours, not an hour, good enough - do a full charge), disconnect and reset the IBS, put it all back together.
That'll either take care of things, or you have a battery going bad - could be either, could be both.

That's pretty new for a real battery issue - but never say never. More likely something else going on like a bad connection or you got one of those Jeep batteries that literally fails after a few months.
And if you don't drive it almost daily, and/or if your drives are short, you're not keeping the batteries up full. If it sits over a few days, or if you only drive 10 miles in a trip, you need to consider a battery minder/battery tender type device to keep them full.
Lack of driving, and short drives, can result in battery issues.
And back to always blaming the aux battery - Jeep 4xe's have a history of 12 volt battery failures, some after only a few months. Guess what they don't have - an aux battery.

Don't disconnect any fuses ... if you opt for the AUX delete I suggest watching the Genesis Dual Battery install for the 2021+ ... the re-wiring is the same whether your installing one of their systems or simply deleting the AUX. Always wrap an insulator around the pos until the AUX is out of the system or risk blowing the Z fuse array.

I would also suggest checking the pins under the hood ... I've had my AUX gone for over a year without any issues, however this past week I had the same dash light pop up. It was the hood pin sticking ... popped the hood and exercised the pin a few times and the light hasn't been back.
