im interested in the part where they talk about how stellantis is being unfairly treated by CARB...not so much that they are being treated differently but the implication that CARB struck deals with other major auto makers to subvert the regulation. I love how thats even a possibility (if im interpreting it right) comifornia at its finest haha

" According to the outlet, Stellantis faces higher greenhouse gas emissions standards in California than its competitors, after CARB made deals with Ford, BMW, Honda and Volkswagen. Stellantis' attorneys wrote the enforcement against the company could mean "serious economic burdens" regarding the allocation of vehicles to dealers. "

Such a poorly run state has no business regulating the rest of the country, which is what this looks like to me. I think it's time to give the state back to Mexico.

Just as much fault of the states that tied themselves to California's emissions standards. They bought into whatever California does, they will follow suit.

Like lemmings jumping off a cliff, they just follow the asshole in front of them.

According to the article below, Stellantis is making the claim that California CARB is excluding making a deal with Stellantis like it did with the other makers because Stellantis had weighed in on litigation against CARB and their exemption to regulate different from EPA standards.

Basically Stellantis did not kiss the CARB ring and is now paying for it.

Stellantis says it was excluded from creating a similar agreement after wading into litigation concerning the revocation of CARB's waiver from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to impose more stringent vehicle emissions standards than the federal government. The board violated state law by failing to give public notice about the framework agreements and by not requiring they undergo public comment scrutiny, the automaker argued.

"Ultimately, when determining whether an OEM may enter a Framework Agreement, CARB has classified OEMs according to whether they publicly agreed with CARB during a good-faith dispute, and created a parallel, underground regulatory scheme to place OEMs that did not actively agree with CARB at a competitive disadvantage," Stellantis' lawyers wrote in the petition.

Hate anyone losing thier job, but there is a certain irony in this being the result of BLUE man group politicies and the fact the UAW donates exclusively to that same group... sorta like bring the rope to your own hanging

At the end of the day, the company is always going to maintain their profit margins and dividend sharing percentages to stockholders without fail by any means.

I am a non-union white collar worker for a pretty large aviation concern working at a unionize manufacturing facility. I have watch probably 5 contract negotiations over the last 15 years and in every case, the Union thinks they get some big concession win and then within a couple months after the new contract is ratified, the company shifts how they do business and there is large lay offs of the Union guys and they are scratching their heads. Most of the remaining Union guys really do not give a shit because they got the seniority and will sell out any less senior Union guy out the door in a heartbeat. We have gone from manufacturing most of the product to now subcontracting out major parts and sub-assemblies and are more of an assembler than a true manufacturer. I see the same parallels with Auto Manufacturing over the years.

This whole thing sounds fishy to me. Why aren’t all manufacturers treated the same way? Stellantis and their lawyers also sound clueless and like crybabies here. Seems like they had an opportunity to avoid this mess and save a lot of jobs and $s.

It is fishy and runs afoul of the 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clause.
