New years eve in 2022 the fuel pump blew on my 22 JTRD and the dealer replaced the pump (with the same pump part#) and all the fuel lines, injectors and rail. And got it back in Feb 2023.

Well that lasted about a year. This morning it blew again. I was just about a block down the road from my house when the jeep started to studder and then lost power and was able to coast onto a side street.

I havd been waiting for the dealer to get the new recall pump and just before the end of the year they told me that they had the pump but were waiting for the fuel lines for the pump. And now it sounds like they'll need to replace the fuel rail, injectors all over again.

Getting it towed to the dealer right now and will find out more tomorrow. I really love this jeep and have put almost 43k miles on since buying it new in 2022. But this is the second time the pump has gone out and I really hope the new recall pump and whatever they did to the internals actually resolved the pump imploded.

Thought I read somewhere that it’s basically the same part.

anywho, I’d be more concerned about where you’re getting your fuel from.

Getting diesel from Chervon and Safeway. Both Diesel #2

The word is the internals are new or at least hardened.

Damn dude. Sorry to hear that. Since mine went at 4581 miles I've been trouble free. 21 Ecodiesel. EDT every time I fill up. ? Dealer is lagging on getting parts. Even though he says I'm 4th on the list.

It’s so hit and miss it appears. I’ve got 25k on mine, not an issue yet. Hopefully they get it squared away soon for you and all of us. I also see a big internal conflict if I had to get something different than this thing.

Yeah mine first went out around 20k miles and up until then it was fine and went on a bunch of trips including a 2 week trip through Canada. And once it was replaced its been fine up until today.

Hoping that the newer pump works out and I can keep the diesel. Don't want to get the 3.6 and I have put a ton of work into my current one that I don't feel like taking everything off and getting a gasser.

Just had my recall done on the 3rd. I asked for and got my old fuel pump. I took the solenoid out and inspected the screen on it for particles. It was clean. Nothing on it. Thinking on sending it out to get the pistons pinned. Then i will have a spare just incase the replacement pump goes out.

This video focuses primarily on geling, but has a good review for wear scar too. ???

If you have religiously used an additive every tank and you have still blown two pumps ?

I've used EDT regularly after the first pump for a while but towards the 2nd part of the year did fall off on using it everytime but still used it here and there. However, we shouldn't have to be relying on using additives to make sure that a fuel pump doesn't blow. Especially when we have spent as much for these diesels.

I do not disagree with you. And in the same argument we shouldent have to keep DPF, SCR, and EGR systems in tact.

I was just asking for my own awareness/tracking. I add the snake oil to every tank for peace of mind and a fingers crossed attempt that it will make it a little longer before grenading.

Hopefully, Maybe, one day someone will make a cp3 conversion….

To add to the awesome fuel system- I have heard (have not had our pump changed) there is a change to the owners manual once the “updated” pump is installed to replace the fuel filters every oil change…. ?.
One day I might get board enough to figure out what it would take to put a spin on caterpillar 2 micron filter on and ditch this Mopar filter…..

Our TDI’s have caterpillar filters and they are awesome…. Larger, and better filtering media…. And just “easier” to change.

Well its to bad Jeep just didn't buy the TDI along with the ZF trans . NONE of these issues would be happening.

I just crossed 25k on mine and will not do a preemptive swap to Jeeps replacement pump. I have no faith that Jeep will come up with a fixed pump they IMO just want a band aid pump to get them out of any warranty period.

I'm hoping like everyone else that the aftermarket will come up with a pump for us.

I unlike the majority have my own 400gal diesel tank with a 2 micron/water filter plus Stanadyne usage. So I'm positive I will not have contaminated fuel. But could have a failer from the design at any time..luck plays a huge part in this.

I'm feeling pretty good about my decision to run Hot Shot's for the past 45k miles.

I had my fuel pump replaced thru the recall at 13,500 miles and am at 16,300 miles now. I've tried EDT and Diesel Kleen but have settled on AMSOIL injector clean + cetane boost since the fuel mileage seemed to improve the most between the three different ones. I also have Amsoil all in one diesel fuel treatment for winter use but it hasn't gotten cold enough here to need that yet.
I wish I had thought to ask if I could have my old pump that was replaced now that I've read here that someone did that (a great idea).
I'm not mechanically inclined but I wish I could figure out how to add a lift pump/fuel filter combo to my Jeep. That would solve having to buy expensive mopar filters and pay them to change them. I saw one set-up that had easy to change twist on filters and would insure that I wouldn't have to worry about the main mopar filter getting clogged and water accumulation. Here in the South where I live the humidity is terrible so water accumulation is a concern. I've seen lift pump/filter combo's available put nothing made specifically for the Jeep diesels. I wish someone would make or at least put together a system that would work good for us. I'd probably wait until my warranty was over unless the alternate lift pump could be used and taken off in a hurry without a trace in case of a warranty issue arising. Edited to add: If anyone is using an aftermarket lift pump and/or alternate filter system it would be good to get suggestions on what to use.
