Factors (some of these may be on yours, but if not, it explains a lot of the price differences)
Inflation
power seats
antenna in windshield (no whip to get stuck in the trees)
12" screen (probably a fair cost)
SelecTrac standard
side air bags (and the tech to support them)
ACC/FCW standard
Gorilla glass
"cold weather package"
aux switches
LED lighting
Alexa
Other safety factors have been built into the 2024 Jeeps that were not present before.

I used to have a Scion xB and I read the crash test report on side impact.

You'll survive, but you'll wish you were dead.

My low APR locks me into mine. There's nothing wrong with it as is.

...and making the resale values of our Jeeps more dismal than they already are.
Solution: don't resell. And never do a mod. I put so much into my Jeep mods that I can never "get back", but I do them because I enjoy the Jeep more. A Jeep is different than buying an 'A to B' transportation solution. It is an experience. Like deciding to take a trip to Australia or Europe or wherever. You will lose money on the trip. You can't 'trade it in' and get money back on your trip. You go because it adds value to the enjoyment of life.

That's something my wife brought up - although my JT is actually mostly stock, not that many "real mods", it's enough it would be a nightmare to undo it all.
power steps at almost 3 grand plus the time and wiring
the snow plow wiring? Don't even want to think of that
Springs and LCAs and shocks - easy to undo, winch not too bad, either.
But the days I have in the other stuff, especially the electrical parts - it would take a lot.
You just can't get some things back, but that's never why I buy or change things anyway.
As I've told people about one of my cars - it's not for sale at any price. It's just not.
I have over double in it what the last valuation list was that I saw on that model, not to mention, I could never duplicate it again, it's actually literally impossible.

That is so true, my fun thus far has been putting some of the options back in it or options only offered in other trims. Buying a JT or JL is definitely more about the experience. Resale value on 99% of vehicles is not going to be good. Obviously there are exceptions but if you think our depreciation is bad, check out luxury cars.

For those of you wanting to “upgrade” to the 4xe: please go try one out in the GCL which is about the same weight as our gladiators to see if you like it first. That’s not to dissuade you from purchase but I thought that drivetrain needs some work before it will be a good option and in a pickup it might not be a good powertrain for towing and doing truck stuff if that’s how you use your JT.

This seems to be the most popular response when the subject of resale is brought up on vehicle forums. It's easy to say, "it doesn't matter what the thing is worth after driving it off of the dealer lot cause I'm gonna keep it forever and never sell". I'd like to have a dollar for every time I have heard that. I have said it many times myself!

Interesting dichotomy. I guess one can compare it to taking a trip across the globe for the life experience, well knowing that the cost of that trip is not coming back. Agreed.

Here's another. Would one want to purchase a home in a neighborhood knowing that the property values in that neighborhood are plummeting? Would it be wise to think that resale doesn't matter because you are going to keep the house forever no matter what?

I know the comparisons are "apples and oranges". But life changes are almost never something that is taken into consideration when excited to make any large purchases. I know it too well. :)

Often manufacturers will reduce MSRP but keep the dealer’s cost the same. Essentially squeezing the dealer. Just changes how much off sticker we can get. What we ultimately pay for it, after negotiating, may not change.

They may have reduced the base price, but with the way they force you into packages, then couple the packages, you still end up buying more than you want or need. I just built one comparable to my 2020, and the MSRP is $8k more than I paid back then. Inflation sucks.

You can't sell vehicles that have quality issues that dealerships refuse to address or fix. I think they need to focus more on quality and workmanship. You can charge higher prices if the vehicle is worth it. Look at Toyota, Didn't see Toyota lowering prices...hmmm.

I don't believe that they are lowering prices. Yesterday I built a 2024 Mojave X, and the final price was in the mid $70s. That's is just freaking crazy! For $77k, I would be looking for something else. Jeep has priced itself right out of its normal market.

I would rather buy the new Tacoma at that price. With a lift 35s will go on and it will drive better . The X in Canada is going to be 80k plus .....what are they smoking

When was that written? This is current -

Jeep has added more than $3,000 in content to the flagship Jeep Wrangler off-roader as well as the refreshed ’24 Gladiator midsize pickup, whose manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $1,700 lower this week starting at $38,990.

This is pretty current -

The current Sport base MSRP is under that at

But then dealers always have different numbers from my experience.........
This is what I see too. Build a truck and then click through to the dealer matches. Pricing varies wildly, even dealer to dealer.

I was in a pinch at the end of last year, so I had to shop, spec, and purchase all in the span of about a week… the Jeep had to be on the dealer lot. When they dropped another 5%, I bought a Jeep on 12/20.

That’s why it’s red.

If the new hybrid Tacoma was available at the end of last year, I’d probably be driving that.

Also today, about a half hr after the Detroit one. Looks like there was a media event they're all citing, where a bunch of info was dropped.

About the dealers... yeah... that's the thing. I don't like talking to them without some some numbers of my own. Now going to be a bit harder to discern whether we're both working with up-to-date info.
Just talked to my dealer again .......he says as of this morning, there have no adjustments to the pricing in the dealer order system for MSRP on anything. Not sure what that one article meant by "this week".
