Yeah, I'm not buying the rumors that JT Gladiators will be $60K+ vehicles. Here's why...

The JL Wrangler Rubicon 4 door with no options is $42,940 MSRP including destination charge.

People are routinely getting 5% off MSRP and as much as 6.5% off INVOICE price. Read here for example: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...p-just-ordered-6-5-off-invoice-on-2019.15101/

Applying that 6.5% discount to the above $42,940 MSRP (not the INVOICE price as he achieved) lands you $40,148 final price before taxes on a Wrangler Rubicon 4 door with no options.

Now, let's assume the following amounts for MSRP occurs on Gladiators:
+ $1,000 Gladiator upcharge from JL Wrangler 4 door
+ $4,000 Diesel engine
+ $2,000 Automatic Transmission
That's +$7,000. Apply 6.5% off and you are at $6,545 in upgrades.

Leaves you a total of $46,693 final price for a Gladiator Rubicon Diesel Automatic with no other options after 6.5% MSRP discount.

There's no way in hell im paying the ridiculous FCA prices on options like $700 trailer hitches, $900 LED lights, and $1,300 bumpers when I can buy arguably better alternatives for each item through the aftermarket.

If you are paying over $50K for a Wrangler Rubicon or Sahara and closer to $60K with options then you aren't doing your homework on pricing, loading up with IMHO unnecessary over priced options, or simply letting the dealer reach into your wallet.

There's no way JT Gladiators will routinely sell for over $60K. Using my $46.6K example above, there's absolutely not +$14K of utility one can get out of a truck bed added to a JL Wrangler.

As others stated In other posts, if spending $60K+, there are many other arguably better vehicles available in the marketplace.

Will there be dealer price gouging initially? Sure. But the volume dealers will know better than to play stupid pricing games.
I couldn't agree more. 60K is just crazy talk. I do think they may uncharge us for the tiny little bed that we will get more that your $1,000 prediction but You nailed the rest.

Im looking at a $45, 000 Rubicon JT with just a few options. Ill get it for the MSRP price of a JL Rubicon with the same options at my below invoice price.

I'm going to be honest, this vehicle even at 45k is out of my price range, however, I should be able to make it happen only because I'm going to move back in with my parents, LOL, kind of, but not really. I think I've mentioned a couple of times that I currently live in FL, but should be heading back to AZ in a couple of years once some stuff shakes out at work. I transferred to this position out here in FL to take advantage of the opportunity to hang with my dad for a few months out of the year when they are snowbirding. He told me I could stay at their home since they are only here approx. 4 months a year, but at the time I felt like I needed to stay in my own place. So once this lease is up next Apr. I'm going to live in their house and be able save a good amount of money to get into a Gladiator. This is a a dream car for most of us and I truly hope we all are able to get into one.

I am very curious how the pricing will shake out. Typically the SUV version of vehicles cost more than the trucks. Tahoes, expeditions, etc.. I they make it I am ordering the most base version I can. Crank windows, 6 speed, and steel wheels.

The one factor to remember is that this is the ONLY vehicle like this and Jeep has the opportunity to leverage that into a higher cost. Scarcity, even false scarcity, sucks hard when you want to buy something. How many times have they raised the base cost of a JL in the last 6 mos? I' ve heard of at least 2 times now.

For me it would be closer to low to mid $50Ks even with the 6% below invoice, as I would want LED (not dealing with aftermarket flickering like I had to on my JK), I would be getting a painted hardtop & soft top, I would want Leather seats as a $50k+ vehicle should have leather IMO, I want heated seats and steering wheel (I live where is snows, and they are needed with hardtops that are not well insulated), I want Apple play so upgraded stereo, etc.

and thats the dilemma. For another $5-7K I can get in to a Super Crew F-150 Raptor with an 802 package and spray in bedliner.

On a flight last week out of houston, I was talking to a "Jeep" rep. He was saying that a JT diesel rubicon, manual, fully loaded would be around 65k sticker. I'm in the same boat as everyone else, I cringed at 45k for my JL and don't know if I would go another 20k before mods....

I question this statement....because there will never be a diesel manual.....
That would be a deal breaker for me then. I have an LSA powered Jk and can do the LT1 swap in the JL and be happy

I'm not sure why people keep talking "fully loaded" price points...or are surprised about "$65K fully loaded" numbers flying around.

A "fully loaded" JL Wrangler is $59K MSRP; add a Diesel engine charge ($4K) and an assumed upcharge for a JT over a JL ($2K) and its easy to hit $65K MSRP

HOWEVER...

- dealer invoice is $1,000s below MSRP

- people are routinely buying at 6.5% below INVOICE price

- who are these people ordering a JLs "fully loaded"

- who pays full MSRP (or more) on a fully loaded vehicle

To put in perspective, if someone wanted to they could get a Honda Odessey "fully loaded" at $52K MSRP. But do you think many Odesseys leaving the showroom +$20K over the cost of the base model?

I don't think anyone here believes all buyers are getting a fully loaded Jeep at MSRP. However some people do want a fully, or at least well optioned model. It is being brought up to compare it to other options. A $65K price tag for a Jeep compared to a similarly equipped Raptor or Power Wagon for $65 to $70K could change a lot of minds. Yes we could all compare invoice prices, but that is something few people actually do

If I'm going dollar for dollar, I'd probably go with a GMC Sierra AT4 with the Diesel. And I could likely get it for $10k less than MSRP. Sticker shock is going to really gouge the JT market if it comes out too unreasonably expensive.

^^Thank you. That's my point stated another way. Get the Sport (or Sahara) version or even the Rubicon minus a bunch of options and keep the price below the $50K mark.
