Tips on painting Mopar steel bumper

I picked up a bronze steel Mopar JK bumper for a great deal and was wondering if anyone has had good luck with a product for painting their steel bumpers black? Prefer something that doesn’t fade too bad

powdercoat it.......It won't cost that much more if you're going to have a shop do it........

I used Black, Rust-Oleum Automotive Truck Bed Coating Spray Paint Textured, it has been a few years now and still looks good., also touched up some scrapes on corner of the rear steel bumper came out good.

I use SEM trim paint, or VHT epoxy spray.
But for initial finish - powder coating. I then touch-up with paint if it gets dinged or chipped.
It won't fade easily and is tough and will take more dings than paint and not chip so easily.

Just trying to get a feeler- what are bumpers costing y’all to have powder coated. My last stubby was $175 with the winch plate in 2019…. Moved to the PNW and they want almost $300…. For $300 I’ll just media blast and spray it with steel-it paint.

I got a quote yesterday, $600-$700 CAD to powder coat it black and I completely disassembled everything myself.

I can paint it myself with SEM or even Raptor liner for under $150CAD.

These guys suggestions are great. Used them They work. What I prefer best is a textured powder coating, however that can be cost prohibitive in my area, and until my new shop is finished I won't have a way to do anything over about 6x8 inches....

My 2nd goto sounds cheap, but rustoleom textured black paint. Not bedliner, Paint. It is relatively strong, Super cheap, I've never had it rust, and is so easy to touch up I don't care if it scratches easier.

I've experimented with Steel-it and am super impressed, however at $40 to $45 a spray can..... also has a higher gloss than I prefer. BUT it is amazing stuff, and when I can do full skids it or powder will be my go to.

I was at about the same in U.S. dollars. I ended up using a bed liner spray. It's been holding up well. This was when just barely done but it still looks the same.

I used raptor and it came our great. Very durable and easy to touch up after some hard wheeling if needed.

Looks great, that’s what I’ll end up doing as well. That’s the exact bumper bar I want too.
