Well that sucks...
Also, one member @LouisvEarlleJT stated walmart would be willing to take all the purchased jugs back...

Follow-up to the follow up- when you get your 6 1-qt bottles, Walmart will let you return them.
Maybe just his Walmart, but not mine. Because I even asked about that theoretically when I was at my local store and they would not accept a return because it is a marketplace item/order.

I will say this though, if you do a return through the actual Walmart website(using the original order #) you can drop them off at a local Walmart and then they will ship it to the marketplace seller and you will have to wait several days for a refund.

First, let me make a little clarification, if you get to the website and see the deal, it's not actually Walmart, but a marketplace dealer that is selling the oil and in my case, it was advanced auto.
About what I suspected and called it earlier that I thought the Advance Auto or any other option besides Walmart fulfillment was going to be a third party listing.

This same thing has caught other people off guard with Walmart and third party listings. Most are use to it with Amazon, not Walmart.com which is trying to be somewhat like Amazon in their online presence.

Yes, sir, I have seen that with Amazon and usually avoid it, because returns are a big hassle. This did catch me off guard and will be my last time placing a Walmart marketplace order.

I would not throw the baby out with the bath water over this. Kind of a learning lesson to just be careful on who is fulfilling it.

Walmart and these killer oil deals have been a game of wack a mole. Some are the real deal, some are just website listing mistake. As long as you are dealing with Walmart as the seller and fulfillment, if it does not pan out, refunds are usually straight forward and quick.

Okay, update to the update to the update to the update.???

A quick recap;

I received 1 of the 6 jugs and was promised a refund from advanced auto for the remainder.

I'm not sure how advanced auto math works, but I received a refund of $27.45. My original purchase price totalled $35.63(after tax).

So it looks like I paid $8.18 for 1 - 5qt jug... not to bad?

Sitting here thinking about it. Actually, I figured it out.

Advanced auto broke it down either by jug price or by quart price, so they took my purchase amount (pre tax) ÷ 6... multiplied it by the 5 jugs I didn't get (or the same math using total # of quarts).... and there's the answer.

I'll take it ??

Good advice, I am definitely ahead on this one for sure, only out a little time and not much considering.

I've just had terrible luck with returns on Amazon when it wasn't fulfilled and sold by them, but I can see what you're saying, as long as it's fulfilled by Amazon or Walmart, it really doesn't matter who selling, the return process is simple.

Bizarre that they're sending people to Advance for pickup. I've never heard of that.
If you look carefully, it's a marketplace order and it's sold by advance.

My multiple orders have been shipped, 2 from Advanced and 3 from some other place. I am assuming they come in they will be wrong. I will just have to go through the same process as SargeDiesel and get a refund for missing ones...

I am curious to see how many people that order because of the link on this post will actually get the correct amount.

Not yet — headed to my local Walmart soon. I told a friend and his order was directed to Advance Auto (and couldn’t change it).

Theoretically, my two orders are ready for “curbside pickup after 10:00 AM” at Walmart. I paid for four six-packs…
This did not work for me either. They wanted to give me 4 x 5 Quart bottles only (for my four orders of six multipacks)...

It was also interesting to see how the same link was dynamically redistributed. My order was 100% Walmart and not Advance Auto. My neighbor could *not get the link to show Walmart fulfillment in a few attempts (and the Advance Auto one eventually disappeared). Curiously, the Walmart offer remained "available" to me until late last night.

Still, this was worth the effort. I have found that Walmart almost always makes it right. This was just too big of a gap for them. I will try again next time! :)

In the listing it has a part number, the part number is for the 6 Five Quart Jugs, not for one quart bottles.

Additionally, I checked my credit card bill, it says Walmart. So that means it was purchased through Walmart....

Maybe you'll get lucky, the rest of us are just saying to be prepared to not get six 5-qt jugs. Noone is denying that the listing, receipts, part numbers, and all that clearly state that it should be six 5-qt jugs.

I won't get lucky. I just mentioned the part number so when they say the listing was for a quart you can show them the oart number. Part number is the iteam we actually paid for.

Good thing I took a bunch of screenshots because they changed the listing now.

Too Good to Be True:..

Canceled today

We're so sorry – some items were out of stock, so we had to cancel. It may take up to 10 business days for the bank to remove payment authorization.

I believe the shipper/pick up location depended on availability. At first it gave me Walmart, I sat on the order waiting for some forum feedback and tried it again later. Then all of my local walmarts were out of stock so it defaulted to advanced. But regardless, the sale originated from advanced auto as a marketplace offering.
Atleast that was my experience.
