The progress of my build over the past year. I wanted to be able to have a RTT and a motorcycle but I didn't trust the hitch mounted motorcycle carriers. I opted to have the bike in the bed but that's left me with some space constraints. I found a great deal on eBay for the Thule Foothill, a half width tent that's meant for people who want to bring a kayak or something else on their roof rack. I made a 1/4 rack(?) out of some c strut to mount into the bed and it worked but wasnt mounted in except where it slid under the tonneau cover rail. definitely made for a sketchy sleeping experience as i had to hold the frame in place with a ratchet strap. The camp box and cooler were able to slide under the RTT on a ikea floormat so they would stick to the bedliner.
I eventually had a local shop weld me up a truly square frame and one that was significantly lighter than what the prototype was.
I then added some 500lb drawer slides and a piece of plywood to be able to slide out a cooler and my camp tote with my stove and other gear.
Ive changed the orientation around a few times and made a small box with coffee table hinges and was also able to use a hammock attached to the 1/4 rack.
I've since bought a cheap awning from Walmart that stows in the camp box and have been scouring the internet to see how and what people are making their camp kitchens out of. I'm leaning towards HDPE since the slides are out in the open and there's not much room for me to enclose the box if i want to upgrade to a 12v fridge as its only 16" wide between the frame and wheel well.
First pic is from my Christmas trip going from Alabama to NC via the GA traverse, Smokey Mountain 100, tail of the dragon and Old NC 105. the 2nd is from a airshow that I volunteered at and lived out of for a week with my gf.
Any suggestions or pics of yall's kitchen setup would be helpful as i have drew up about 8 different variations of it so far.
