I just checked the value of my Gladiator by VIN on KBB.com and it said $22,000-$30,000 for private party?????????????????!!!!

Is KBB smoking some powerful mind altering drugs or is this true????

Sounds completely insane..

Just last month I had it appraised for $35k at one dealership and $40k at another for trade in.

KBB is a joke, IMO. Dealers have offered me more, more than once. In fact, when I traded my 20 for my 22 - the dealership beat the KBB prices by thousands.

Then for months, KBB hounded me stating they had a great cash offer for my truck - yeah, right.
And for my 22 - similar - dealer offered more.
............but I wasn't ready, and it's a good thing I didn't jump because health things would have prevented me from switching parts around...........

But I went to KBB months ago and it told me ~$40,000 I'm pretty sure.

Yeah anything that says "instant cash offer" I just don't even bother. I will always go through the process of selling it (unless I can trade it in and don't care)

For kicks, I plugged my 2022 overland VIN in again - and was shocked to see the value up slightly in KBB.
Huh??
it's got more miles (4,000 more) and of course more age (2 months), and now it's up?
I only checked trade value, nothing else.

I have never notices issues using KBB until now. Do you think Edmunds is better? or which one would you recommend (if any)?

I got 39,500 in a trade for a 2022 JTR in January at 15,000 miles.

That sounds about right.

I used to trust Edmunds - until CarMax bought them. Now it's the fox guarding the henhouse.
It sucks when an independent gets bought out by a company with an obvious agenda - buying cars cheap and flipping them fast.

Before the trade with the Jeep dealer, Carmax would give me only 30,000 for that JTR.

I just traded my 22 JTR with 32k miles for $36k. All sites (KBB, Carvana, etc.) showed a trade in value between $32k - 34k. Price may also depend upon where you live…

Yeah that is complete and utter bullshit. And the dealership prices are sky high.

KBB has been pretty spot on or within $1K or less of anything I have traded in the last 4-5 vehicles.

The only caveat I can say is to be honest on the actual vehicle condition that KBB asks you to rate your vehicle and be prepared to defend it at the dealership because they will almost always try to give you "fair" condition trade in value no matter what. So if it actually good to excellent, be able to articulate that to the dealership.

Lastly, mods add almost nothing and if anything, can gig you at a dealership on value.

IMHO, All of the "Books" are b.s the price is being "cooked" for controlling interests, just like the service man hours to do work. Of job X takes X man hours to perform so this is the hours billed.

Anybody here sold one PRIVATE can tell me what they got for it?

Trade ins are always lower than what the vehicle is worth.
