You just need to go sell the Jeep--Immediately. Whether it's to Carmax, Carvana or your local dealership. Take the option that offers you the most money and walk away from it. You bought the wrong truck at the wrong time, and you will have negative equity to mitigate, but that relatively small amount of money pales in comparison to dealing with the mental anguish that this lingering situation is causing you. After you correct the Jeep issue, find yourself a 8-10 yr old Honda Civic with 100k of highway mileage on it and a solid maintenance history and drive that until you get your life together.........Good luck..........

Sell it buy a steak with the procedes.
Now there's a total waste of funds
Tastes great but where does it end up tomorrow morning?
Down into the septic tank.
Like a cousin says "that's a $30 sxxt"

To be completely honest this situation is not a problem for me. The mental anguish comes from what I said. These dudes clearly desperately trying to pull the wool over my eyes with the $70,000 car, and then saying everything I ask about is impossible to get, and it being impossible to get an answer out of people.

But I'm over it now.

By the reasonable prices that I see them for sale at dealerships now used (2022 JTR) and on Carfax.com .. I am only like 900-$1200 underwater and I just sold this Analogue Pocket bundle that I had laying around brand new for $400 that's going right to the Jeep debt.

And I noticed 66% of my loan payment goes to the principal so that's really good news. I'm getting it detailed first of the month.

If I can't sell it, then I'll just pay as much as possible down and trade it in for a vehicle that's worth like $50k. Between that and the negative equity I should end out right where I started when I originally bought the Jeep which is fine.

And I have to wait 3-4 months for the vehicle so I will work on bettering my credit to get a better deal.

But I tell you both Jeep dealerships I dealt with were golden. Super nice folks..

This Toyota dealership man. OMG. Snakes. I smelled it a mile away that the dude was just lying saying anything that's not on the lot is impossible to get. But I don't make assumptions so I wanted to know the truth.

Everything I said here about my situation was just to prove that I'm not living beyond or trying to live beyond my means.

Honestly this week has been all wins for me. I reversed a business situation where I was losing $6 a month on services I was providing a couple clients and I moved stuff around (websites and servers etc.) so now I'm actually making a profit and they're paying me the same and for them nothing has changed. It's very small, but it's important to me. And I'm making progress taking actions towards my business.

And I'm sorry about my rant about the other forum, you guys have nothin to do with that.

You never noticed that before? (about the loan)

And seriously - spending money on detailing a truck you are up-side-down on or under water on?
Talk about throwing good money after bad.............detailing won't add anything to the value, it just takes money you could be using on the payment away from said payment.
Unless you plan on keeping the thing long-term, skip the detailing.

And then there's those who have 80K in a classic, take it to the B-J auction and get 70K out of it (and then there's the fees and so on on that come out of that)
A "classic" is no guarantee, either. Some you win, some you lose. Most of us into the classics never go into it expecting to come out even even on it.
Automobiles, typically, are not to be looked upon as any sort of investment - unless it's something very rare and desirable.

I find your take on this interesting. I am going to consider this.

I always take pride in everything that I sell looking immaculate. I know that most of the time people don't give a shit.. but I honestly do think with vehicles it will make a difference if the vehicle is clean and pristine vs. dirty and the interior is grungy looking.

I would do it myself if I had a power washer I know how to do it.. but ones that aren't Chinese junk are expensive so I never bought one.

I don't mind spending the money. Making every effort to get rid of that monthly payment and get rid of the negative equity is worth paying to have the car washed.

And detailing is a loose word that people use. It's really just washing the car with a pressure washer and drying it, and then cleaning the inside. People do call that detailing but people also call full claybar wax, etc. detailing which is much more expensive.

What I'm getting is a fancy word for a car wash. I won't ever wash any vehicle of mine in those drive by washing machines, they put swirls in the paint.

I never looked at the statement for my Jeep. I just pay the bill. I looked at the statement for my Mustang. But that's because I have to to see the balance.

The only thing about this that I don't like is that I don't want to have an extra $1200 because then I won't be struggling.

I WANT to struggle. I got into this by being too complacent. Too comfortable.

Detailing is what I do for a car show.......... you make it spotless inside and out, carpet, under seats, every bit of the dash, make it look like no human had ever touched it or driven it. It includes the lug nuts, every crevice of the wheels. It usually also includes engine bay.
Doesn't have to include clay bar or special wax.

Others detail just to be 100% thorough everywhere - no traces of dust or dirt on the body or the interior. Seats and cleaned and treated, carpet looks like new, mats are scrubbed, and so on.

Detailers would cringe at calling "just washing and cleaning" detailing. It takes a lot of time and sweat to detail a car, attention to detail.

Otherwise, it's a wash and vacuum. Wash it using your favorite method, dry it so there are no spots, clean the inside and outside of the glass, and vacuum it out.
Washing may be by hand, using a garden hose and bucket of car soap in water, or by pressure washer, or going to town and using a wand to pressure wash it.

Agreed. But hey I just said I needed someone to wash my car. I didn't use the word detail, I just said how I wanted it washed because the last time I asked on there they sent me to one of those automatic car washes. I just said detailed now because that's what he calls the service.

Great job btw.

I'm sooo glad no one brought up a balance sheet, debt to asset ratio sort of thing.........
or even net worth.

Could get real interesting.

You should see the bottom of it - you could eat off the exhaust or drive shafts.
Last real competition at the nationals, I laid under it with a brush and bucket of soapy water and scrubbed the entire undercarriage..

Those guys looking the car over - it was between two very very nice restored cars - an AMX and a Javelin. They looked under the hood and said "I never knew AMC put the 4.0 in the Eagle.
Best compliment of all - because they never did - I did. They thought it was factory.

Anyway, 'nuff of the other stuff, I suppose. A team of dead horses has been flogged a plenty.

I’m a little confused. Why are you selling the Jeep? Because you don’t like it or because it’s losing value too quickly? But then you also say you’ll buy another vehicle for about $50,000?
