Time to replace my 35” BFG KO2s. Thinking of going back to The stock 33” but adding a mild lift. thinking Clayton for my needs. Any thoughts? Anyone have a lift on stock size tires?

I did all that on the Overland, 35's, 2" Mopar lift. Ended up having to upgrade gears, deal with caster. With the Rubicon, I just went with a 2" spacer kit from AEV and kept the stock 33's. I'll run the 33's until they rot off.... LOL. I know people want it for looks but spending that much to gain 1" elevation is not that prudent anymore. And the Rubi's 4.10's is still low on the gear ratio for 35's.

I’m thinking of getting my Sport S to basically where yours is at now, 33’s with a modest lift. Maybe 1” on the rear and 2 1/2” on the front to also reduce the rake so I’m happy to hear that your current setup works well.

2023 Max Tow with 1.5" Teraflex spacers on the front, no lift on the rear. 285x70x17 Wildpeaks on Mojave wheels. I still tow a trailer, so I did not want to put too much lift or larger tires on. Works perfect for me and I like the looks. Moderate offroad trails only though, need more tire and lift for difficult trails.

Sport manual transmission, 2” front 1” rear synergy springs. Mopar LCA with Kenda 285/70/17. Rides awesome on and off road. Slight rake, but level with weight or trailer. I went this route for increased break over and better ride quality, and because any larger or heavier rubber would require a regear.

Retired and loving it
I’ve been running a 2” Mopar lift with 35’s since I’ve had my Rubi and it’s worked out great. I’m not doing any really extreme rock crawling, but I do some pretty damn rough, rocky, rutted steep trails every single day. I think I’ve found the perfect compromise for my needs anyway…

I have 1.5 spacer lifts and 33s. I think it looks good. It works great. Still good clearance and still handles great in every way.

Looks good. I’m not sure if the willys suspension is different than the rubicon, but that’s my baseline.

I guess I should have noted that I’m currently set up on the stock Rubicon suspension. I tow a lot and am trying to lessen the stress on my drivetrain from the 35s by going back down. my thought is A mild Clayton overland lift would address any stress to the suspension from the trailer.

I would expect gas mileage to go back up too.

Esthetics would be lower on my concerns But I was concerned a lift without tires would give it the ‘I skipped legs day at the gym again’ look. To combat that, I already have KMC rims with a. +18 offset. This should give me a better stance.

I'm currently running 35s in the winter and the stock wheels/33s in the summer on about a 1" front and rear lift for my JTR. I went with Dobinsons 2" coils front and rear, lightest load coils up front (OEM steel bumper + winch), 400-600 mid-load in the rear to compensate for my topper. The 2" is over non Rubi/Mojave models. When I talked to Clayton about their 1.5" lift they said it would be closer to 2.5" on my Rubicon and then settle 🤷‍♂️

I really like having the bit extra height for my departure and belly, even with the 33s on obstacles it still makes a difference. Although for me the ride with the coils and better dampening on Falcon 2.1s was the main game changer.

People Work?
If I were going to settle with 35's I'd keep the Rubicon at stock height.
My Mojave came with a 2" AEV lift, and I don't like this much open well space.
Stock and 35's looks better to me.

So am I looking at a 2” AEV with 35s or 33s? If the latter I think it looks great. Im more interested in the ride and if you tow, how it handles it.

also, those look like the Oem Mojave wheels. Don’t they have more offset than the Oem rubi wheels?
