Had a Toyota cut me off and brake check me. He popped out screaming I hit him. Told him if he'd like to review the dashcam footage I'd be submitting to the Police and the insurance he was more than welcome.

He retreated and drove off.

Yeah he tried to pull that card on me an rn I said great so our insurance won’t have a problem will you send it to me so my friends and I can laugh at you. Still waiting for him to send it.

I felt the same way putting one in the BMW. I don't know that it's the best idea given my motoring tendencies but regardless, installed it this past Saturday.

On Sunday I was nearly knocked off the road by a clapped out semi tractor at about 70mph. Didn't hit me but if he had, I'd be in the hospital if not worse but would have evidence its his fault for my attorney and insurance to contend with.

I bought this unit with the hardwire kit that allows standby while off. Unlike a lot of cheaper units, the resolution is outstanding and the hardwire kit has the ability to cut off the cams if the battery voltage dips below a certain level. So far no issues starting the car. I'll be getting one for her Bronco this week and for the JT when I eventually buy one.

I've posted this before... but my dash cam kicked off when my vehicle shorted in a flood at the dealer and got totaled (at 5K miles). Ironically, it was there for a water leak .

The dash cam video became key in the ensuing legal fight. The dealership's workers moved the dealer's inventory out of harms way but left all of the customers cars to float around and get totaled. (They moved virtually their entire stock but none owned by anyone else.)

Funny. Had an old man tried to cut me off as i merged into traffic on the highway. It was slow moving and he stared me down as we slowly moved forward... until he rear ended the car in front of him. LOL. Wish I had that recorded. Idiots are everywhere.

How was the install on that unit?

I had them hard-wired by a professional. I think it was around $140 for the parts and labor. He did a really nice job with a quick disconnect on the rear camera for when I take off the hardtop. I had one just plugged into the cigarette lighter on a previous vehicle, but this is much cleaner.

I would think that Jeep or at least someone in the aftermarket would have figured out how to use the front and rear cams for this purpose. No additional visible hardware, no issues removing the top, doing a cap, etc.
