Had to notch out a small piece of plastic for the sights to clear. Takes about a half second to push down on the frame and chamber a round before drawing the weapon from the mount ready for action. The only hindrance is remembering its there when exiting the vehicle as my right leg bumps the gun on exit if I’m not paying attention . I’m 6’2” so may not be a problem for shorter legs. Great mount and gun specific. Perfect for CCW size guns IMO.

Edit: For those that asked the brand is: At-The-Ready A browser search will land you on their website.

What? You don't leave it chambered?

I’m pointing out a feature of the mount as some may use it that way.
Didn’t say I did or didn’t. I know reading comprehension isn’t what it used to be but the mount will also provide retention for a pistol with a round chambered.

The post is supposed to be about a product that some Jeep owners may find useful and not about what condition one should keep their pistol.

IMHO - that’s a very dangerous “feature”. Chambering a round slowly like that can lead to failure to feeds even under ideal circumstances. And given that the user would be performing that maneuver while under stress - the odds of a malfunction increase exponentially.

But I do like the mount as a mount. Not sure about the location (for the reason you pointed out). Maybe moved toward the right more so it wasn’t a knee catcher.

I looked at one similar a couple years ago but thought it would hit my leg and I’m only 5’ 8”. After trying a couple other options I didn’t like, I ultimately went with a Sticky Holster stuffed between driver seat and the console for long drives.

I think this is a more concealed solution, also is a lockable box if you need to leave it in the truck.

Certainly more concealable and potentially lockable if you can't carry it where you're going and must leave it in the vehicle.

However, in the event you need to draw it in a worst case scenario, what the OP posted and similar would be preferable.

That is, assuming you keep one in the hole.

I keep mine hot always but I believe it's one's preference it's also been shown that the extra few seconds to cycle a round in the chamber has saved lives and accidents. In my opinion if you are not active at the range and very familiar with your piece a loaded firearm in the hands of a person that shoots very rarely might actually not be a good thing I have taken classes and taught classes on firearm safety same goes in your home at night more accidents are caused by a loaded firearm within arms lengths of a sleeping person then have the firearm across the room so you have that 30 seconds to read the situation. Either way looks like a nice mount just not 100% agree with the location

Maybe, but with any system it comes down to training hours and muscle memory. My biggest concern with this set up other than knocking it over getting in and out, scaring the public, etc. is that under pressure and adrenaline there is a lot in the way to draw and aiming down site when you have mounted your device of choice under the steering wheel, between your legs and wedged between your crotch and the seat. It’s more fluid with the center mount. But again, any set up is only as good as your seat time.
