I think change interval is more impactful than oil type for engine longevity. 4k I think is frequent enough to cover my add regardless what I doAlthough i typically go every 5k change.
Damn that’s a great dealI've actually been running the costco 5x30 kirkland full synthetic in my taco for about 2 years now. it's like $35 for 10 quarts.
I lived in the Northern Arizona desert. Super fine sand rendered air filters dead or worthless any longer than that.I think change interval is more impactful than oil type for engine longevity. 4k I think is frequent enough to cover my add regardless what I do
That’s what I’ve been doing. And it’s what’ll I keep doing after this discussionWhile fun\interesting to go down the rabbit hole which I have done I figure K.I.S.S is the way to go changing every 5K. I use the factory filter but I do spend a bit more on for the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
How often you change the differential and transfer case?On my 2000 tundra I put 370k on it and drained and filled the trans every 30k. and changed the motor oil every 5k. Was working perfectly when I sold it at 370k.
On both my Wranglers 3.6 with 50k and 30k I installed a drain plugs on the trans pan and will also drain and fill every 30k. Motor oil every 4k.
For the last 50 years This has been my routine and have put between 300 to 400k on all my cars and trucks and never had a motor or trans fail.
Back in the 70s 80s and 90s when I was turning a wrench for a living I would see a lot oil leaks coming from oil seals and come to realize that these cars and truck never change there fluids and the very fine grit in these fluids over time would eat away at the seal lips and start to leak.
You want your car or truck to last for the long hall. Change your fluids.
On the glady, every 50-70k per the ZF manual and driving conditions presentHow often you change the differential and transfer case?
Interesting........why does the Euro builds get that over the 0w20. I would love to hear that answerValvoline European Vehicle Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 5W-40
The same oil that is used in the European version of the 3.6.
Do it for Dale!!!!!!!Indeed, lots of lightly loaded, easy peasy highway miles.
Just adult owned, never abused, simple life. Only drove to church on Sundays.

Its only dumb if it doesn't workAlways Mobil 1 in every vehicle I own. I'm going to jinx myself here, but of all the vehicles I've ever had and used Mobil 1 in, I've never had any issues with the engine. Other components, yes, but never the engine. I buy new (because I don't trust anyone to ever do maintenance, and see how people treat their vehicles), and sell between 150k and 200k. Just a personal anecdote.
