My son and I dropped my JTR off at AMW this past Monday for a 426 swap. I have ran a magnusson on it for 3 years, and around 10k flawless miles thanks to Dave on here with dialing the tune in perfectly. I was ready for more, and something that I did not have to fret everytime I climbed north of 3k rpms. Thanks to @hobbsserv for answering all my questions on his recent 426 build and his experience on the swap. For now, I am keeping stock axles with 513's, as I do not wheel hard, and never bouncing off rocks. My truck is mainly used as a weekend toy, and camping/overland trips. I do have a wonderful driveline shop less than an hour away that I have talked to in length about this, and his suggestion was drive it as is, and we can address issues if they come.
Guys at AMW were absolutely amazing. They gave us a tour of the shop, looked at many of the builds they have going on. Hellephants, 840's, 707s, etc., a his and her 25 JLUR and JTR in new 1911 green in for 840 Demon turnkeys (some folks just have stupid money, lol)! We saw the process from arrival to end product, quite a production line they have.
After the tour, we even got to go for a ride in a 707, which really had me questioning the 426 decision, lol, but I stuck to my guns, and stayed course. The turnkey 707 was an absolute dream to drive, steering was on point with psc hydro assist, ride was smooth as could be on really crappy michigan roads, and of course, the HC engine was intoxicating!!
Will keep yall posted on progress!
