My son and I dropped my JTR off at AMW this past Monday for a 426 swap. I have ran a magnusson on it for 3 years, and around 10k flawless miles thanks to Dave on here with dialing the tune in perfectly. I was ready for more, and something that I did not have to fret everytime I climbed north of 3k rpms. Thanks to @hobbsserv for answering all my questions on his recent 426 build and his experience on the swap. For now, I am keeping stock axles with 513's, as I do not wheel hard, and never bouncing off rocks. My truck is mainly used as a weekend toy, and camping/overland trips. I do have a wonderful driveline shop less than an hour away that I have talked to in length about this, and his suggestion was drive it as is, and we can address issues if they come.
Guys at AMW were absolutely amazing. They gave us a tour of the shop, looked at many of the builds they have going on. Hellephants, 840's, 707s, etc., a his and her 25 JLUR and JTR in new 1911 green in for 840 Demon turnkeys (some folks just have stupid money, lol)! We saw the process from arrival to end product, quite a production line they have.
After the tour, we even got to go for a ride in a 707, which really had me questioning the 426 decision, lol, but I stuck to my guns, and stayed course. The turnkey 707 was an absolute dream to drive, steering was on point with psc hydro assist, ride was smooth as could be on really crappy michigan roads, and of course, the HC engine was intoxicating!!
Will keep yall posted on progress!

Curious to see how long the 5.13’s hold up.

Are you just doing the motor? Or the hydro assist as well? Both now would make sense/ease while everything is open.
PPE pan and Trans cooler/warmer mods too?

Havent entirely decided on the psc kit yet, while it is a very nice add on, I in no way need it for what I do with the truck. Just have to decide if the on road manners are worth the price?!
Engine and trans getting swapped.
As for the 513's, like the psc, I don't need a 60/80 combo for my style, using pedal discipline is worth saving 25k to me. My shop and AMW did recommend 488, but both said the 513s may be great as long as I don't do extended interstate trips on the daily. Needless to say, I wont be doing any burnouts or parking lot donuts for clicks on the gram, nor have a desire to, lol

If you have any thoughts of maybe going to hydro assist down the road, at least have a ported box installed or the PSC gear box. It can be done after, but it is not fun. It does make for nice highway driving for sure, it is a overkill steering stabilizer. I swapped my gear box out after the Hemi install and it was a challenge.

5.13's and 37's are going to make some rpm's if you do much interstate driving. I have 4.88's and 38's and at 75 mph I am at 2150 rpm's in 8th. When I am pulling my camper I only go into 7th and run 65 mph at 2250 - 2300 rpm's. I prefer not to do much more than that for extended times.

Currently, running km3 39", which measure at 37.25 ish, probably similar to your 38's. I have been super impressed the 40" yokohama geolander mt on my sons JTR, so thinking I will upgrade to those when the time calls, and then likely axle upgrades.

Good info on the steering box. Would a psc, or ported box be of any benefit with stock set up? Have also thought about doing apex boost assist now while apart in lieu of full hydro assist for now, being it is a part of the complete system.
I had zero intentions of doing anything to steering other than upgrading to dynatrac ball joints until I drove the 707 with psc kit.

I am currently running the Milestare Patagonia XT's and they measure at 37.75". I have kicked the idea around about 40's myself. I have RCV shafts up front and Chromoly shafts in the rear and front axle trussed.

With the hemi you will loose the electric assist steering pump, so no Apex boost assist. You end up with the engine run pump and reservoir. 38's on up, width and what you plan on doing with it will determine if you need it or not. Low tire pressures for off roading, locked differentials and rocks, the hydro really comes in handy. Mainly street driving and dirt roads will not benefit that much from it.

Psc is the way to go… we had the big bore on our last Jeep, will be doing psc again with this Jeep….. running big tires even on mild off road wear parts. Seems silly to wait until a pump blows when a good opportunity with it open already is in place…. And if your throwing the box on….. couple hundred more gets the ram, lines and cooler. Steers like a dream and will last.
Your Jeep, your build, could not ask for a simpler time for this to go in than now though.

Agree now is def the time to add it. I had not put any thought in it until now, and after driving one. Looking at psc site, full kit for a 392 is $3500, pump is 1400. I am waiting to get a quote on the addition, along with 25 gal ext aux tank.

Thats where my hesitance lies, I never wheel anything that a tj on 33's can't handle. Our weekend day trips and overland camping/fishing trip are very moderate. I also pull my OP4 sometimes too, so that really limits the trails we take. It's not like I am wheeling moab, or out west where I'm aired down and need that extra wheel pressure to maneuver big rocks.

I'm actually more interested in it for my sons JTR on 40's. He's heading off to college this summer to play football, and will have about a 2 hour drive on not the greatest roads from school to home. Likely will bite just to see if it's worth doing on his.

That would be something to have for sure.
Agree. Have planned on that all along. Down fall is losing spare tire location, even tho only have a 37 for spare, but would get me out of a pinch.
I do have on board air, so apart from blowing a sidewall out, I could make do short term.

Should be fine with 5.13. If not, then axle upgrades.

One of the reasons to keep 513 for now, see how well they work. If they're a no go, will likely do a 60 rear with 488's.
