You would think that after all these decades, Jeep would put something besides a Commodore 10 computer operating system in Jeeps that cost $60K plus! Why so many problems with updating the darn system and making things work right all the time? The iPhone updates seamlessly. If we are rapidly going to a car world that depends soley on electric operating systems, maybe Jeep should invest in some technology that actually works right all the time. Maybe the DOGE geeks should visit them.
Because FCA doesn't make the Unit, its base code is Android 8.1 Oreo and was hardened by Harman, So essentially you have a 2017 Android Phone as your Radio running a custom compiled version of 8.1 Oreo which a bunch of custom Apps.

also just FYI that does mean in theory you could install .apk files if you could get into the root or sudo levels of command line. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not that you should just in theory its doable. (Also one of the reasons why I find it laughable you cant add NAV to Uconnect5, its literally just an App on the same hardware, meaning Uconnect5 and Uconnect5 Nav are artificial differences)

I have a 24 rubicon x and updated a week or so ago. I lost the Off Road Adventure Guide app too. I can still access the Off Road GPS via the nav however.
Well, I talked to uconnect customer support at lunch and after reset then factory reset, I ended up losing more of the apps (car play, Alexa, front and rear cameras, dashboard tab under vehicle) and they recommended I went to the dealer. I played a bit more after hanging up, reset again, reconnected the system to WiFi and Bluetooth with phone, tried to reactivate services. Lo and behold it all came back as well as the adventure guide widget/ app. Can’t see off-road gps yet but that may be me.

It is most likely not you. My Adventure Guide came back, but not the off-road gps trail log. More likely a glitch in their update process. I will wait a week, and then contact Uconnect support. I do see the gps trail tracker on the Off Road Pages screen and I am not sure but I think it was always there.

UPDATE: GPS TRAIL LOGS app came back in the APPS>VEHICLE folder, but not on the DASHBOARD SCREEN. https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/software-update-lost-functions.90238/post-1470929

My 2024 Gladiator Mojave got the latest update and I'm still getting a message that says "UConnect box needs service. See authorized dealer for service."
It's been to the dealer 3 times for the same massage. Dealer says it's an update issue and it will repair itself when the next update is received.
So far in my opinion the UConnect 5 system is junk. Stellantis managed to take a good product (Jeep) and F... it up royally with the UConnect 5 system.
I'm not wasting my time with taking it back to the dealer any more.

Its just Android man, its likely storage failure or corrupted file system, just need to replace the unit and or reimage it and it will be fine could happen to any Android Phone or Radio.

Then they have certainly done a lot of fixing in the last few years. When I worked for the state - they had a lot of iPhones assigned to counselors in remote offices. I can't count the number of iPhones that were either bricked or had really screwy issues after updates. In fact, for a year or two it was so bad we did what we could to ensure no phone got an update right away. It reminded me of Microsoft updates for a while - avoid until everyone else has found all of the bugs.

BTW - I may still have a copy of DOS 3.2 here somewhere.

I remember those days as well. I think I still have part of an old Commodore computer laying around here somewhere. Ah, the DOS days :) As for the Jeep electronics issues, the fact so many people have problems with these over priced rigs tells me there has been a lot of cost cutting at Stellantis over the years, and not in a good way. I avoid taking my vehicle to a Jeep dealer when possible because they frustrate me so much. If a tech can't run a program and have it tell him the answer, they can't fix anything. They aren't all that way but enough of them to make life difficult. They had a sale recently on nav upgrades so I sprung for the $100 bucks and the instructions for installing are so bizarre I still haven't done so. Lots of "be very careful" points it appears. I think the problem with a lot of this is that, unlike some of the top tier brands like MB, the mantra at Stelantis has been one of "do the cheapest thing that makes it work" rather than make it work at a specific standard of performance. So, what we get is low bidder stuff. I love my Gladiator with 41K trouble free miles so far but can't wait to install my Corvette LT1 crate engine when I have the time. I have never had a Jeep that did not have a GM engine conversion.

The infotainment, etc. is Samsung. Blame them.

As far as "techs" - there's no troubleshooting skills in too many cases. If something goes off-script, they are lost.

That sums up the uconnect support to a tee. I don’t feel as though they actually use the system. I’ve found the dealer to be better… more practical knowledge.

Has anyone had their Altimeter affected by the update? If so, any idea how I can correct it?
My Altimeter is reading -50 feet where it was previously reading around 100 feet.

I have never seen a altimeter correction on the Uconnect systems. Mine is off sometimes up to -100' when driving nearly at sea level.

Pretty sure it is all GPS data but still should not go into the negatives unless you are actually in one of the few places on land below sea level.

-50?
You realize these are only rated to a depth of about 30" or so.

Just kidding - should be GPS - not sure how that could even be off unless it wasn't getting all of the sat signals or something.

I know when the radio/NAV on our 2018 Grand Cherokee went funky it had us in the SE corner of Iowa when we were next to Des Moines and it showed us off road and so on. It apparently wasn't communicating correctly with the stuff up in orbit.

Yep, I noticed something similar. Current reading is -40, used to be somewhere near +50.

I just looks at some work documents that I deal with for aircraft GPS. You need 3 satellites tracking for 2D positioning (lat/long) and 4 or more satellites tracking for 3D which includes altitude. If you are dropping in and out of the 4 or more satellite lock, altitude data accuracy will suffer.

I think it is a false assumption that UConnet would always calculate a surface position (lat/long) altitude and report that but rather relies on the calculation of the actual satellite data and needing 4 or more satellites.

I do not think it is a Uconnect issue.
