I bought mine in July 2019 and there was one choice to add steps to the the rock rails. I tried them and they did not work for me. I ended up removing the OEM rails and installed N-Fab rock rails with detachable steps. They're not the most elegant looking, but they're very heavy duty and I can remove them all in less than 10 minutes (two screws and two nuts per step). The rails have supported the Jeep on rocks a couple of times without issue. This is the best photo I could find that shows the steps.

We just got the RubiRails from ExtremeTerrain.

Only caveat was that 2 of the 10mm bolts were f$&@ed up from manufacturing defect and seems like QC didn’t catch those. Called ET and they offered a $210 credit or a replacement. Ended up taking the $210 and a multi-tool to the threads to grind them down a bit. Also was missing a M6 locknut from the hardware which I also had to go buy from HD.

Overall though, once tightened down, they seem to be solid. Shook it down a bit and tightened everything up once more and they look great.

Comparing it to the Mopar rocker panel guards, the Mopar one definitely felt beefier, but the wife needed to step in and out of the vehicle more comfortably. Used to have WKOR sliders on my Tundra, so these were a nice addition to the Gladiator albeit is definitely not frame mounted. She purchased it for my birthday gift so can’t complain there.

Too bad those won’t work with the Rubi stock rock rails, but I like the look of the step and the mounting method…

My wife has the same issue. She is a little bit vertically challenged. We have the MOPAR rock sliders with a tiny bit of a step for really small feet. I am hoping she will get used to using that to get in and out. I would much prefer to spend $500 on something cooler than a step that is actually detrimental to off roading. We will see

My cousin bought a used, very lifted YJ.
I gave one of these folding step stools to him
ostensibly for his wife to use. (I needed it, too.)
We tied a string to it so we could get in,
then pull it up, fold it and stow it behind the seat.

It would be much more galant
to assist your beloved
and then stow the step stool in the bed of the truck.
In case it's dirty, you know.

You're welcome.
A step stool also makes it easier to work on the engine compartment,
clean the windshield, reach into the bed or climb into the bed if it is lifted.

The N-Fab RKR Step System is going to give you rocker panel protection and the bolt-on steps are easily attachable and removable when not needed. The step drops about 4" from the pinch weld, so you're not sacrificing clearance.

We are about a month away from having our NXTGEN Cross Terrain steps, ready for the Gladiator.

They are the strongest most functional drop down step for the factory rails.

Setting up our Patent Pending clamping system takes a little bit of time for the first install, but then it’s just a couple of quick screws per step to take the step off and regain full clearance when you hit the trails.

Those would be fine if my Jeep was lifted, but it is not and won't be.
