I live in South Florida and of course the interior of vehicles get really hot, especially with all of the black vinyl stuff (dashboard, handles, etc.). It can get like an oven with the windows closed and parked in the sun. I have used Armorall and similar stuff in the past but have read that these are petroleum based products and create even more heat when exposed to the sun.

My question is, what type of cleaner and/or protectors do you use? Any recommendations? I'm sure there is some Mopar stuff but for anyone who uses it, is it any different than an off the shelf product? Anyway, any ideas or recommendations? The JTR is new (January) so I figured now it the time to begin adding protection before it begins accumulating a lot of dirt.

I have been using these two products for years now in my Gladiator, my previous JK Wrangler, and a few Camaros, and my girlfriends cars.

I use the Meguiars for general cleaning and wiping down all the plastics inside.

I use the 303 Protectant on the seats in the Camaro ('leather') and tops of dash boards and door panels that get baked with sun more often.

Neither one is greasy or shiny. They just leaving the inside looking 'new', not gross and slick.

My after market guy says do NOT use things like Armorall. He says they do as much damage as good over time because of certain chemicals... He had a few obscure company recommendations. I'll have to ask him again.

The interior isn’t as ’important’ as the exterior (to us anyway). We’ve used many different things….McQuires, Chemical Guys, KochChemi….. or just a plain micro fibre with soap/water. The hubby has a special cleaner that we use on the rubber floor mats. Not sold on any one thing…yet

@Janster I'd be curious what he uses for the floor mats, I'm not happy with what I'm doing.

Thank you. That's why I was asking the question, especially about Armorall. I have heard that Armorall works really well in the short-term but long-term it has a negative affect on many plastics.

I’ve honestly just been using dish soap diluted with water in a spray bottle for everything other than glass for the last 13 years. Gets a lot of hate from guys that talk about ā€˜the oils in the plastic’, but I’ve never had an issue, looks clean and new with zero added shine, and only costs free-ninety-nine

I use chemical guys total interior. they also Have a ceramic I've used and it performs just like the other one. I chose those because it says on the bottle they have some UV protections.

I use a spray bottle with distilled water for the interior along with an assortment of microfiber towels and 100% cotton white t-shirts. If I need to get something greasy off, I'll first use dawn dish soap diluted with water in a spray bottle, then follow with distilled water.

On my leather, I occasionally use Lexol Cleaner followed by Lexol Conditioner, but most of the time I just use distilled water.

šŸ˜† I had to ask him….. We clean the floormats with regular soap & water / brush. Koch Chemie GUF Gummifix as the protectant. It’s expensive but you only use a ā€˜little’. I think you can use it on other things- plastic, he bought it specifically for the floor mats. He saidā€¦ā€Some guy on a Youtube channel recommended itā€šŸ˜†
He really likes it…..
