Last time I was looking for work I used a service to apply to 300+ companies at once, then picked the best ones to move forward with. I even had to ghost some interviews because better ones popped up. It's not like companies contact people to tell them why their application wasn't selected, it goes both ways.
Makes sense when you put it like that. I always hated looking for work.

I would love to rewrite the rules for unemployment to include actually having to show up for interviews and having the interviewers complete a short evaluation to mark the seriousness of the candidate. 5 strikes and your unemployment is suspended. I'd do that among other things. The fraud in unemployment is ridiculous I ended a friendship over a buddy who was milking it like that and bragging about it. I've barely spoken to him since....that was about 5 years ago. It's BS and I have no respect for people with that kind of dishonesty.

I totally get it… however….

If you ghosted an interview… Did you call them ahead of time to let them know you weren’t coming?? If yes…. AWESOME!! That’s what you should do.

Businesses could spend hours prior to the interview getting ready for it…. And that person doesn’t show up. That’s hours of valuable time they’ve wasted…..

Effective communication (up front) prior to the interview is actually part of the interview process.

Amen. Ghosting an interview should not count. You should actually have to show up and have that employer sign off on it - yeah he was here, he applied and so on.
Even in Iowa it's really easy to cheat the system. You apply via phone and only have to punch the number of jobs you applied for. They never did check me, but I was totally honest - if I applied and interviewed for 3, I put 3, not 4 or 5.

When I was with our government agency, if a person just didn't show up - the boss tracked that name. Don't ever apply here again. And if anyone asked him, he'd tell them no, they never showed up (among other things)
Yes, it cost time and time is money.

My next door neighbor growing up was a Union Pipeline Welder. Got "laid off" every winter for 3 months and would collect unemployment. Basically was a paid 3 months hunting and fishing time as he made bank the other 9 months of the year. Did that his whole career.

I remember the Toyota Tundra use to top that truck list for years. Ironic that many of the Asian brands rank so high.
The don't sell Tundras in Japan. They have no need for them. The Tundra, along with many other larger Toyota/Lexus brands are made exclusively for the US market. Many of them are more American made than some American brands.

I do not think I was implying otherwise.

Here's my "old man" experience. My dad worked for companies that promised and delivered a job every day without shorting him or taking advantage of him. My older brother workes in the same industry as my father but he has no job security. As soon as his employer sees a slight downturn he is laid off. Wages are stagnant for the workers while the white collar salaries increase ( and CEO salaries!????!) and the shareholders reap their profits while paying fewer (capital gains) tax dollars than the workers! Shareholders (owners and investors) got exactly what they demanded. Boo hoo for them.

I thought that about Korea, until once in a while I'd see a pickup or full-size SUV crowding through the packed streets. I was surprised to see an occasional pickup or Grand Cherokee or some bigger SUV. But 95% are midsize to small cars.

Take a gander at the bottom right corner of your window sticker/Monroney.

I also have a 2020 stick. I wonder if this info is general to the entire "carline". Maybe the sticks have higher US content without the Japanese auto transmission.

Funny how bringing back the engine to being USA made only bumps the USA made content 4%-6%. Would have thought that would weigh heavier in the percentages.

Maybe it is just assembled with a lot of foreign parts?
