You can call it boomers if you want (they created about everything you use and rely on), but the aenemic 3.6 doeant cut it and unless we get diesel back, the 5 7 is a damn sight better than ths 3.6 or the 2.0 or the Duracell version....Your tow rating went down because the engine in the JT isn't the limiting factor. Heavier engine = less capacity. If you want torque, your diesel already has more than the 5.7 you're creaming over, and it's available at ~1600 rpm vs ~4000 rpm in the V8.
How many of those badge trails are you planning to run with a V8 at 4000 rpm?
V8s are basically just for boomer sales at this point, a population that is declining.
I've seen the test mule pics of the JT 4xe. We have a 2025 Willys 4xe JL and I honestly can't see the 4xe - as currently engineered / spec'd - being a successful powertrain for the longer wheelbased, heavier Gladiator. Especially if towing or having any type of heavy payload. You can call it boomers if you want (they created about everything you use and rely on), but the aenemic 3.6 doeant cut it and unless we get diesel back, the 5 7 is a damn sight better than ths 3.6 or the 2.0 or the Duracell version....
Isn’t that basically the issue? Even with the emission regulations in place, a V8 is going to pollute more based on gas efficiency alone. The basic intent of the California engine change laws is that when you do an engine swap, the new engine/transmission cannot pollute more than the original engine/transmission.
But I think Raptors are ugly.Raptor pricing for a midsize truck that can't do Raptor things lol
Did you read the original post I commented on?What does a V8 do for you in those slow, tight situations?
My 2.7 turbo on the Canyon makes the JT memories even more anemic. Not that the 5.7 is going to be a raging powerhouse but it seems to me it would push the Gladiator on the streets and highways easier than the 3.6.
Maybe if they simply started down the turbo charged engine road that Ford has they can meet emissions and increase the power wants of many consumers?
I would like to see a 4XE JT with a turbo charged 3.6 instead of the 2.0.
I was able to get around this by installing a CARB certified E-Rod LS3 engine in my 1977 Trans Am. But they’re only allowed to be installed in vehicles pre 1995 (no idea why they selected that year).Isn’t that basically the issue? Even with the emission regulations in place, a V8 is going to pollute more based on gas efficiency alone.
That thing looks milquetoast. Not only do I think my 3.6 Pentastar is a perfectly suitable engine, I like looking out the window and seeing my Gladiator in the driveway. It's an awesome looking rig. That Colorado on the other hand......uh....boooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiinnnnng.....My 2.7 turbo on the Canyon makes the JT memories even more anemic.
The Canyon has its issues in other places, but power sure isn't one of them.

I wonder if it's a Denali. I wish they had written it on the vehicle somewhere. That thing looks milquetoast.
