Just like the article I posted from BC, re refined oil can even meet or exceed the brand spanking new virgin stuff because it’s all ready been around and “some” of the oil manufacturers don’t even have to tell you your running re refined oil.

Now you can run “even better” re refined 0/40 that exceeds the other new stuff. I think it would protect better too.
Frankly, I think terminology is part of the tangle here. Not much distance between us otherwise.

People use recycle, well, to me that's turning it in, and who-ever gets it makes other stuff out of it.
And that all by itself is GREAT. If you can make lamp oil or grease, I don't care, but USE IT AGAIN. That's recycle to me.

Now, for putting in an engine - naw, that's different.
Some out there say "it's filtered" (yes, even on BITOG forums) and suggest it's simply cleaned up, water extracted, fuel extracted and so on - sorry, that just won't work. They suggest that is "recycling". Meh, maybe semantics?

It has to be rebuilt, think the "$6 million dollar man" - we can REBUILD it. We have the technology - much of it from refining crude (filthy, dirty crude, nasty stuff). And in the process, make it into what we want - even a great base oil.

But when I see people say "the companies recycle oil, filter it and put it in bottles to sell if" - no.

But no matter whether it's virgin crude or re-refined, the end quality of the bottled product depends a lot more than just on the base oil.

I switched to 0w40 on my last oil change and nothing has blown up. It's definitely quieter at start up

I do my oil changes every 4-5k miles. At 32,300 mile now........so let's see if my cams make it to 60k miles

This is what I use. Mobil 1 ESP does offer 0W30 viscosity. Some like PUP do not. Many over in the JL Forum, are also using 0W30. Most of us feel that it is a great compromise, for the PUG engine. But some are using 0W40. Either or, should be helpful! But everybody to their own.

That's where I found one of the cam failures using 5w30 - there are others on other Jeep forums.

I'm just glad to see my 25 was made after the cut-off date on that TSB. There should be no issues with it IF they really HAVE resolved the materials issue with the cams. (Even though we've never had a cam issue on the 5 upgrade engines we've owned)

I asked some real goodies 😉

You’re sounding a little scared right now. You’ll be ok. We gotcha. You might just find out all the major oil manufacturers buy bulk supply of “made new again” oil and sell it “as new” in their own branded bottles …and the majority of us, (this doesn’t include you) have never thought this actually happens.

It’s kinda like what happens to water. The earth only has so much of it. It was made to only have so much at the very beginning and it still has that much. It’s been used and abused and it just keeps cycling round and round, not a drop less now than what was at the start. Neat eh?!
Uh yeah your right I don't believe it. But it sounds like a basis for a good sci-fi movie 🎬 😂

Which part?
Water deal I see people fighting over water and bottling it and selling it in bottles or some kinda cray cray stuff. What will they think of next bottled air ,or recycled food 🤔 😳 🤢🤮

6/10 but we are still not at half time yet. Hit the showers and come back onto the playing field with some better rant content. I believe in you.
Ok coach , I am revamped and ready to conquer this conundrum.

In the course of events that is or was Chrysler, FCA,Stellantis et al. The company sourced different places to make components up to and including entire engines and now even today the USA engines are being sent the new "KITS" which are clearly marked " MADE IN MEXICO" as promised to @Hootbro I dug into this and I am blaming it on Jose Cuervo .
As everyone knows as of 2012 this Mexican made spirit is the best selling tequila in the world selling a fifth of all tequila consumed .
I say that this factory in Mexico that is making these cams need to start a good quality control program and start a rehab program. Lol okay just kidding .
Seriously it has to come down to moldes and metallurgy. Simple as that Oil cannot be the issue if it was every 3.6L would have the same exact issues. It is simple logic that if enough time is taken to digest will bring you to this conclusion.
