Needed new tires....again

At about 24,000 miles, my factory tires were in pretty bad shape, and i bought some Falken Wildpeaks at Discount Tire. For whatever reason, I'm at 52,000 miles now, and the Wildpeaks wouldn't have passed inspection. I only got about 26,000 miles out of them. Because of how short the life ended up being, I was able to get into some Goodrich K03 tires for a pretty good price, after prorating them for the mileage they should have gotten.

The K03's ride well, which mildly surprised me because I heard so many stories about the K02 tires being loud on the road. I hope these last a lot longer than the Falkens.

Not sure you don't have some suspension issues at play. My 23 has 20000 miles and the stock Mud Terraine Ko2's have plenty of life left. I have rotated the tires twice and will be due for another rotation soon. From the looks of them I am expecting I will get 40000 miles out of them.

24,000 miles on the stock Falken Wildpeak is pretty horrible, and 28,000 isn't good either. Those should be 55,000 mile tires before getting down to 3/32" tread depth. Something is going on with your vehicle that's eating tires twice as fast as it should.

I would agree with JT ME. Seems really odd for 2 sets of tires to go out at about the same mileage (and that mileage is really low for modern radial tires).

Were both your sets of tires "cupped, Feathered, chopped" or was the wear even across the whole tire etc?

I got over 50K and still had tread left on a set General Grabber ATx's in a 35x12.50x17 size.
I wish the K03's had been available when I replaced my Grabbers and had to go with BFG AT KO2's.

My wife said I shouldn’t upgrade my tires to 35s until the originals wore out so I just didn’t rotate them so it would happen faster. I had Falkens and still got 35000 out of them. Switched to KO2s, and like them a lot better

Okay, so the original tires were not Falkens, I have a Sport and they were the Dueller tires, 245's. When I bought the Falkens, I went up to the 285/70/R17 tires, on the same stock rims. The new K03s are also 285/70/R17 on the stock rims.

The tread was a big different on a couple of the tires, but overall they were all in pretty bad shape as far as tread goes. There wasn't much left at all on a couple of them. It didn't look choppy, just worn down pretty good. I rotated the tires every few thousand miles, when I got my oil changed. Still do. Any ideas what I need to look at that might be causing the tread wear?

You’re in TX? Maybe its the horrible Houston roads?

I just looked up the Bridgestone and they are supposed to be 80,000 mile tires - assuming it's a half-tread depth OE garbage tire, you should have still gotten 40,000 out of those.

Bad toe adjustment will chew though tires quickly, go get your alignment checked to start.

Wouldn't the need for an alignment show up in the tires wearing unevenly? I didn't have that problem, they were worn through shoulder to shoulder.

Thats very odd you're getting low mileage like that, my Falken M/T I had come with my Rubicon I got about 52,000 miles and that's not rotating my spare in the mix. But I had to fix my suspension cause of all the extra weight wore them out. I got the Falken A/T this time and im about 45,000 miles and i rotate my spare also. and they look brand new.

I had a bad experience with SL rated Falkens on my Trashoma, err, Tacoma.. But the E rated AT3W's have been amazing on different rigs in different sizes for me, 40k miles + and still good to go. When my last Mojave was stolen at 40K miles the tires were still performing well. Something is not right. BFG's are not great in my experience but some swear by them, likely those that never experiences Falken's or Toyo's...

Falken AT 3's have been great for me as well. I had 37x12.50r17 in load range D at at 40,000 they still looked great.

I have the c load falken wildpeak at4w 35x11.5r17. They have 12k miles and I rotate tires every 3k miles. Look brand new. They've been in the mountains and logging roads but mainly 80% street/ highway. Sounds like your roads.

I got almost 60k on my '21 Mohave the OEM Falken Wildpeaks, 33x12.50 and replaced them with the same tire but went to a 35x12.50. I also went from a C rated to an E rated tire. Now at 95K I have noticed some uneven wear and they are getting a little louder, but the whole suspension is also starting to feel lose so I am wondering if I don't need new shocks at this point. As for the BFG AT/KO3s, I have heard good things about them and after having used KO2 on multiple vehicles the only reason I stuck with Falkens is they performed better in the winter than the KO2, but I may give KO3s a try next.

@texanjeeper what kinda use does your Gladiator get?
Lots of stop and go, lots of sharp turning and not much HWY miles would be my guess.
