My Gladiator has the internal window antenna, can it be converted to a real antenna?

I have no clue. But this is just a guess. If you got behind the dash and find the coax cable for the antenna, you might be able to disconnect it from the windshield and add in a traditional antenna from there. How you would mount it would be up to you. But I'm curious, why?

…To add at least another $300.00 to the cost of a replacement windshield when it breaks leaving the showroom floor.

🤷‍♂️ Its all the same cost for me. I pay $200 and the insurance pays the rest. That's why I get the $1200 gorilla glass every time.

I don’t like the sat radio when I hear the same song 3 times in a 24hr period 😂🤣😂🤣

The nature of my geography the FM works with a real antenna so much better.

Really, regular glass with the exoSkelton shield on the outside fixes the chip and cracked glass problem.

I was just wondering if anyone had done the mod and if there was a cable that would plug into the head unit, is it capable?

I have all of my favorite music on usb enough for fringe areas and a drive across the US about 6 times

2024+ windshields and the integrated antenna had me scratching my head for bit as it seems to be totally different in that there is actually 3 connectors going to it with just the one up top actually visible.

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/2024-windshield-antenna-connections.119829/

This matches the 2025 schematic I have for the radio system that shows 3 wire phase diversity antenna and a single antenna run for the SDARS antenna for the satellite radio function. This differs from 2023 and prior radios that had the single AM/FM antenna wire run to the fender.

I do not think it is realistically possible to put a 2023 prior windshield in on a 2024+ and run the AM/FM to the fender like before as you are now still loosing two other built in antenna inputs for the radio.

I live south of LA and the built in FM antenna is garbage in my opinion. I usually listen to music on my phone anyways as I don’t drive enough to pay the $4 a month for satellite.

DAB isn't used in North America and it's unclear what the "Antenna Signal" is actually used for. Seems to me one could unplug the windshield antenna and connect a standard AM/FM antenna via the coax input at the radio to test whether this is a viable solution or not.

GM tried the windshield antenna back in the late 60s-70s. Total garbage. Every time you used the wipers the signal was interrupted as the wiper arm crossed the wires. Hopefully the Jeep’s antenna is somewhat better.
