and isn't dependent on aux battery status, so thats the route I'll end up going soon.
The factory switches aren't dependent on the aux battery status either - they are dependent on battery voltage - including the main.

I've said this a dozen times - my wife's JLU will give her a message "aux switches unavailable" and her JLU doesn't even HAVE an aux battery. It's a 4xe.
If the battery voltage gets too low it disables the switches until the battery is charged again.
I'd bet the others are set that way as well.

people need to drop this thought that aux battery = aux switches. Aux only means auxiliary, and the switches do NOT run from that battery alone. Both batteries are connected together.

Frankly, I'd want my switches to not work if the battery voltage got too low - it might prevent being stranded somewhere. Smart engineering on Jeep's part.

In a previous survey, which I do belive was a topic on this forum, they asked about the future of the gladiator. Style, options, engines ect. Hemi 5.7 and 6.4 were part of that survey

It was sent via email. This is my fourth survey from them and some of the surveys have been discussed here.. Kinda surprised no one else recieved it
I never got one…. I probably wouldn’t fill it out anyway.

Once you participate or click on that stuff, you’re just confirming your email works and you’re a willing participant. Hence, why they keep sending you the surveys over and over again.

Not a big deal if they are taking consumer feedback to build a better vehicle. 4 surveys in 4 years isn't bad when I get junk mail from Amazon daily

If it is directly from Stellantis then it certainly sounds legit. However, I really don't see an issue with his/her privacy when sending out an unsolicited email to a customer they can easily see does not even have that part on the original vehicle (unless it was an aftermarket purchase) In my mind, sort of like sending out a survey on a manual transmission when you have an automatic. It just flew some flags up in my mind but that's just me. But I understand where you are coming from.

On an unrelated note, my Rubicon does have the Aux switches (I have never used them but may use one to switch the winch on) but you mentioned the rock lights and ditch lights. Not to sound totally stupid, but are they used to light up the rocks below your Jeep at night? We only have mud and sand here in Florida and was just wondering what I would do with them.
You can use the aux switches for whatever you like. I don't have rock lights (under the vehicle), I have bumper flood lights (aux1) , flood/spot lights and (aux3) and spot lights (aux4) on my chase rack, and compressor (aux2)

Haven't seen it yet. Both of my Jeeps have them.

They should go where the window buttons are and put the window buttons on the door. I don't need a window buttons when the doors are off. Frees up more real estate on the dash.
Trade offs is that it complicates the wiring to the doors that much more, especially the drivers door where the expectation it would be the master with 5 switches like a normal car.

I'm not sure how the system is now - but if they are on the can bus it should only be two more wires regardless of how many switches.

Regardless - I think they are fine in the middle, but it sure confuses my friends when they ride with me 🤣

I haven't had rock lights (yet) either but I'll be honest.... my wife just thinks they look cool. :CWL:

That and I do a lot of duck hunting which requires a lotta 4am drives through washed out marshy roads - Seems like rock lights will help us see under the truck so we know if we're dealing with mud, obstacles etc.

Its from Jeeps market research team. The sent one a few months ago where they had a gladiator mockup with a full width grill and minimal front fenders asking about styling.

I had another one where they were focused on tech stuff like 360* cameras or underbody cameras.

I get them all the time, and once in a while out of the blue they ask when you are planning to replace your jeep with a new one, if you indicate soon they'll send you a $500 or $1000 coupon.

The AUX switches are dependent on the AUX battery, but it's the check logic in the computer that enforces AUX battery level so the AUX switches can draw off the main. I hope with all this blow back on the EV mandates, there will be a similar recoil on all the auto stop/start crap as well......

Sorry, the aux switches depend on battery voltage, the average of the pair, not the aux battery.
There is NO AUX BATTERY on a 4xe, and yet you get the same message.
Since the batteries are connected in parallel at all times - your logic is totally lost.

There is no way for them to be switched from the aux battery to the main since both are connected to each other. Not sure where you get the BS from that they rely on the aux battery.

gee, look at this - there's no way for the aux switches to work off any singe battery, they ALWAYS work off the pair, and it's total battery voltage that matters, not the aux battery.
There's no way in any "logic in the computer" to determine where the loads are coming from - it's always both. (except for milliseconds during an ESS restart)
Logic in the computer

the other issue is some people leave the rear doors on and take the front doors off. If the switches were on the front doors instead of the dash how would they control the rear windows?

I'm not an electrical specialist but if the person in the back wanted to put down the window couldn't he/she just push the button? Is the rear window operation dependent on the front windows? If you wanted to put down the back window couldn't you just reach back and press the button?
